Brackern[]
Surrounded around the Shuriman Continent are several clans of Brackern, including clans in the Shuriman desert.
Dormun[]
The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.
Eka'Sul[]
Desert goats that travel in herds.
Mwatis[]
Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.
Kmiros[]
Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for 
Rammus.
Outerbeasts[]

Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.
- Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger.
Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.
Ralsiji[]
Large and aggressive minotaur-like creatures. They are humpbacked quadrupeds with long limbs and thick horns.
Shuriman Camel[]
A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.
Sandswimmers[]
Sandswimmers
Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.
Skallashi[]
The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.
Born in an ancient, sorcerous catastrophe, 
Zyra is the wrath of nature given form—an alluring hybrid of plant and human, kindling new life with every step. She views the many mortals of 
Runeterra as little more than prey for her seeded progeny, and thinks nothing of slaying them with flurries of deadly spines. Though her true purpose has not been revealed, Zyra wanders the world, indulging her most primal urges to colonize, and strangle all other life from it.

Background[]
Early Life[]
Zyra existed thousands of years ago as a collective hive-mind of carnivorous plants that lived together in a place called Gardens of Zyr, somewhere in the 
Shuriman jungle. Sometime during the Rune Wars, a party of soldiers accompanied by an ambitious sorceress visited the garden and were attacked by the plants. In an act of fear, the sorceress unleashed a magical attack that ignited the fumes of the swamp, causing a magical explosion that destroyed everything in its path. The gardens remained lifeless for hundreds of years after.
Contemporary history[]
After centuries without life in the gardens, Zyra emerged from the lifeless ground, not fully plant nor fully human. She struggled to understand her new existence and came to be curious of the new world she was able to explore.
Her plants seem to be slowly expanding westward towards the Mother of Life river system of the Shurima Capital.
With the Flowers[]
Zyra's flowers were collected by a flower shop in the market city of Kumangra. The owner watered one of the flowers and placed it in his study. From the flower bloomed a large mass of vines and flowers that covered the entire study and wrapped the shop owner into a cocoon, killing him. After the shop owner's wife found him, Zyra appeared in the study, stopping the wife from destroying the flower and wrapping her in a cocoon, killing her. As the woman died, she saw visions of a world covered in Zyra's plants with nothing else in sight.
Appearance[]
Zyra is a wondrous vision of a creature, resembling a human woman covered with plants, which seem to be parts of her body. Her eyes are very similar to a panther's, with narrow irises that are common to predators.
Personality[]
Zyra is a vicious, predatory creature. In spite of gaining human intelligence, Zyra still has the natural instinct of consuming and devouring of a vicious predator. Her ultimate goal is to envelop the world with her plants, making it beautiful and ridding it of all that isn't her.
Abilities[]
- Unique Physiology: Zyra is a hybrid of human and plant, something the world has never seen before. She was created on a magical accident during the Rune Wars, a disastrous explosion that mixed the natural elemental magics of Ixtal's swamps and the careless spells of an unnamed sorceress.
- Nature Magic: Zyra can create plant life as she sees fit, and is able to create vines, thorn spitter flowers, and other types of plants.
- Infection: The spores in Zyra's plants can infect humans and grow into full blooming plants, killing them from the inside.
- Pseudo-Teleportation: Zyra is able to reform wherever her flowers have taken root.

Zyra, Rise of the Thorns
- Zyra came to be during a magical catastrophe made by an exploring party from a long-forgotten kingdom during the Rune Wars. She doesn't quite understand the world and has yet to demonstrate if she is more rational than instinctive.
Original Zyra
- Zyra wants to explore the world she glimpsed when consuming the sorceress, as well as to adapt to her new form, the fragility of which makes basic survival all the more important.[1]
- Zyra (the predatory plant who relishes her new form) looks down on Maokai (the guardian nature spirit who laments his own) and yet they might be the only ones able to show each other the merits of their newfound bodies.[2]
- Zyra might show some interest in Ahri considering the commonality in their acquisition of a humanoid form, but otherwise the Fox is merely a many-tailed snack.[3]
