Brackern[]

Surrounded around the Shuriman Continent are several clans of Brackern, including clans in the Shuriman desert.

Dormun[]

The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.

Eka'Sul[]

Desert goats that travel in herds.

Mwatis[]

Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.

Kmiros[]

Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for Rammus Rammus.

Outerbeasts[]

Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.

  • Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger. Rek'Sai Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.

Ralsiji[]

Large and aggressive minotaur-like creatures. They are humpbacked quadrupeds with long limbs and thick horns.

Shuriman Camel[]

A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.

Sandswimmers[]

Shurima Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.

Skallashi[]

The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.

An enthusiastic Yordle sorcerer, Veigar Veigar has embraced powers that few others dare even approach. As a free-spirited inhabitant of Bandle City, he once longed to learn more of the celestial magic practiced by mortals, but his natural curiosity was twisted by imprisonment in the Immortal Bastion. Now a stubborn creature with the dark fury of the stars at his command, Veigar is often underestimated by others—and though he believes himself truly evil, there are some who still question his deeper motivations...

Background[]

Early life[]

Not much is known about Veigar's early life in Bandle City. At some point Veigar, dissatisfied with yordle magic, came to the human world wanting to learn about celestial magic. There he learned with human masters how to wield the power of the stars, which he excelled at. This proved to be a mistake, as this caught the attention of the undead warlord Mordekaiser Mordekaiser, who was sweeping through Valoran at that time. The tyrant caught Veigar and took him to his domain.

Under Mordekaiser's Rule[]

Veigar was enslaved by Mordekaiser and forced to work for the tyrant. He couldn't escape to Bandle City, as he was bound to the physical plane by Mordekaiser. For years, the yordle was subjected to brutal tortures and abuse until his mind broke. Mordekaiser forced him to twist his magic to hurt others and used him to bring destruction to all who opposed the tyrant. The trauma of those atrocities changed Veigar's personality and appearance.

Yet no one's reign lasts forever, and Mordekaiser was betrayed and overthrown by his servants servants and the Noxii tribes, led by their god god.

After Mordekaiser's Rule[]

Veigar The True and Ghastly Tale of the Beast of Boleham Tower

After defeating a warlock, Vixis the Cruel, and taking his arcane tower, Veigar tries to scare the local villagers.

Finally, Veigar escaped from his ensorcelled cage. He was not interested in the struggle for power over the empire; his deepest desire was only peace. But by this point, he could no longer give up evil and embraced it by becoming the evil sorcerer.

Yet unlike his former captor, he wasn't so brutal. Indeed, sometimes he burned pastures or destroyed the mansions of barons. Veigar also drove out brigands and warlords, murdered terrible creatures of darkness, defeated warlocks, and took their magic artifacts. So it was difficult for the good people of Valoran to tell whether these acts were malicious or actually reasonably helpful.

Modern History[]

05BC093-full

Veigar embraces his leadership over the minions and his Yordle-followers.

At some point in time, Veigar conquered a castle somewhere. Veigar became a dark lord with his own numerous 2 minions and yordle-followers. Among them are: 2 Darkbulb Acolyte and 2 Twisted Catalyzer, who accumulate 3 Darkness and 5 Mana respectively. A 3 Wizened Wizard, who restores runes of long-forgotten folios with the help of shadow magic. 4 Stilted Robemaker, engaged in fashion at court, especially in the matter of increasing height. 4 Tenor of Terror and his brother 4 Bass of Burden, proclaiming the greatness of their master. And a mysterious 8 Mirror Mage, possibly connected with the distant past.

05BC093T2-full

Veigar and his troops embark on a campaign towards darkness, traveling through Yordle Pathways.

In this castle, dangerous artifacts are gradually accumulating, and ancient dark knowledge is being restored. New inventions manifest themselves in the form of war machines combined with artifacts from the dark past. The representation of such a gloomy genius can be the 4Grand Overseer - a combat mecha equipped with the Rabadon's Deathcap Rabadon's Deathcap and the Morellonomicon Morellonomicon. Step by step, the military power of Veigar and his forces is growing... He also wrote a book ''How to be a Supervillain''.

Appearance[]

Veigar is a small, even for yordle standards, individual. His appearance is obscured under his blue and purple cloak and large hat, which are adorned with many spikes. His most notable accessories are his abnormally large right glove, as well as his axe-like staff (with a gem on its tip).

Under his clothing Veigar has black fur and stark yellow eyes, he resembles a black cat.[1][2]

Personality[]

When he first came to Runeterra, Veigar was an enthusiastic and curious Yordle that wished to learn more about magic. This curiosity led him to leave Bandle City, and go to Runeterra in search for knowledge. There he was delighted with the knowledge that he acquired and put all his effort in becoming a powerful mage.

When the warlord Mordekaiser caught him, he was tortured for year under the warlord's brutal watch. This torture broke the Yordle's mind. With his personality broken, he re-imagined himself as a terrible tyrant with a thirst for power.

Under this new persona, Veigar is obsessed with the aesthetics of villainy. He's arrogant, melodramatic, and antagonistic, constantly causing chaos in the hopes of getting the attention from others. This often leads to frustration as most of his attempts of villainy either led to mild annoyances, or instead lead to great good. He is also territorial in his search for power, aggressively going after anyone that he considers a rival in his quest for power, which often times, accidentally leads to him coming in direct blows with (and defeating) other dark sorcerers and other evils, accidentally helping many on his path.

It's possible that Veigar's acts of good might not be as accidental as it might first appear, but instead his subconscious guiding his actions towards good while his conscious mind, too broken by Mordekaiser's cruelty, rationalizes it to fit in his persona of villain.

Abilities[]

  • Yordle Physiology: Veigar is a Yordle, a being coming from the Spirit Realm and possesses several abilities natural of his species.
    • Immortality: Being spiritual beings, Yordles don't age the same way as normal humans, and they can't normally die.
    • Yordle Magic: Just like any Yordle, Veigar is capable of performing yordle magic, which he utilizes in tandem with other magics he has learned.
  • Master Sorcerer: Veigar has studied and mastered many types of magic. He learned long-forgotten spells that are many thousands of years old. His Will Will is strong enough to learn and grow stronger over the centuries.
    • Spiritual Magic: Like any Yordle Veigar has a deep connection with a spirit world, but due to the fact that Mordekaiser bound Veigar to the physical plane and forced him to cast grimly enchantments, he learned to use dark spells. Now he controls the 3 Darkness itself, so his native Yordle magic has taken a Darker Form Darker Form.[3]
    • Elemental Magic: Little is known about what knowledge Veigar has achieved in elemental magic, but he is erudite enough to be aware about Dark Matter Dark Matter and is able to manipulate it.
    • Celestial Magic: Veigar has mastery over the power of the stars. By harnessing celestial magic, Veigar can create powerful blast of energy, summon meteors of Dark Matter Dark Matter from the skies - "he would call down the fury of the stars themselves upon his foes[...]"[4] - and create Gravitational Fields Gravitational Fields to "trap them in the timeless infinities between moments"[5] that paralyze his foes.
    • Cosmic Magic: Combining celestial, elemental and primordial spiritual magic, Veigar can simultaneously cast spells both of destruction and creation, such as Primordial Burst Primordial Burst.
  • Leader: Veigar has shown to be a competent leader, being able to lead his small group of Yordles towards his goals. Also, like a true dark lord, Veigar commands an army of minions.
  • Artifacts: Despite his magical power, Veigar continues to accumulate dark knowledge and collect magical artifacts. With them equipped, he becomes much more powerful.

Relations[]

Mordekaiser Mordekaiser[]

Mordekaiser tortured Veigar to gain knowledge about other realms. Eventually, Veigar's personality would shape to be more like his captors. However, due to his yordle nature, he could never perfect his masters cruelty, only a caricature of it.

LeBlanc LeBlanc[]

Veigar knew LeBlanc, who was also forced to work for Mordekaiser.[6]

Lulu Lulu[]

In the old lore, Veigar is a friend of Lulu. Their connection in the new lore is left unambiguous.

Trivia[]

  • Veigar is over 1,500 years old, as he was present during Mordekaiser's Mordekaiser's second crusade.
    • He was possibly captured by the Iron Revenant around 400 BN, or 1400 years ago.[7]
  • He was possibly affected by Stockholm syndrome after being held captive for years by Mordekaiser Mordekaiser.
  • 8 Mirror Mage could be LeBlanc LeBlanc's servant, secretly manipulating Veigar Veigar, so that he could confront Mordekaiser Mordekaiser in the future.
  • If after the defeat of Mordekaiser Mordekaiser, Veigar Veigar didn't go far anywhere, then he may now be somewhere in the vicinity of Noxus. The fact that the Noxians don't bother him, despite the facts of his victories over local warlords and sorcerers, may be due to the secret patronage of LeBlanc LeBlanc.
  • Theoretically, if Mordekaiser Mordekaiser will bring Veigar Veigar to Mitna Rachnun, then Veigar will be able to destroy the pocket realm by using the Cosmic Magic (Celestial, Elemental and Primordial Spiritual magic) and in particular his spell Primordial Burst Primordial Burst, thereby freeing all the souls captured there. And LeBlanc LeBlanc will finally defeat The Iron Revenant.
  • After Lulu was released in League of Legends, the community immediately began creating a lot of content featuring her and Veigar, which led to Riot Games officially making them friends in the game's old lore.
