Season 4 inventory

The trinket slot as it appeared in Season Four.

Season 11 Inventory

The current trinket slot. The fourth slot is responsible for holding trinket items.

Trinkets are a category of items introduced in Season 4 and the preseason. They are placed in the trinket slot, which is independent from the player's main inventory and can only hold trinket items.[1]

Purchasing and Selling Trinkets

Trinkets can be found in the Vision & Trinkets category under Tools in the shop.

All trinkets are totally free, and can be swap between each other for no cost. Changing a trinket will remain the same cooldown as the previous trinket.

Upgrades

All basic Trinkets are granted lower cooldowns and increased effects as their owner gains levels. Additionally, you must reach level 9 or above in order to upgrade your basic Trinket into an advanced Trinket.

Strategy

  • Stealth Ward Stealth Ward can be used to ensure the safety of nearby brush, or keep an eye on a position in the lane that could be quickly overrun by the presence of enemy minions.
  • Oracle Lens Oracle Lens grants you True Sight icon true sight for the duration, revealing stealthed champions, and giving you the ability to disable any opposing wards and invisible traps, letting you counter the use of enemy trinkets and keep you and your teammates stealthed, and is a major counter to abilities such as Teemo's Teemo's Noxious Trap Noxious Trap.
  • Farsight Alteration Farsight Alteration grants you Sight icon sight in the cast range for 5 seconds while also placing a Farsight Ward icon Farsight Ward in the middle of the casted zone indefinitely, it can be used to quickly reveal a zone without getting yourself in danger. Farsight Alteration Farsight Alteration is often bought on ranged carries preferring a long range warding placement over a dangerous warding game. Seer Stone Seer Stone has the same mechanic but will not place a Farsight Ward icon Farsight Ward.

Limitations

  • Since there is only one inventory slot for trinkets, a player can only own one trinket at any given moment.
  • Trinkets can be used as soon as they are bought, even in the 30 first seconds for the game.

Trivia

  • Trinkets were originally called "Relics" during their early stage of development.[2]
