Regard this as to how I came about to starting this discussion.
There are currently several inconsistencies in the ability descriptions present in the Wiki as most of you may know, such as, but not limited to the following: bonus AD vs Bonus AD, bonus attack speed vs bonus attack speed. To rid of this, there needs to be made a streamlining of the said descriptions.
My proposal is that all specifications (ie. bonus, maximum, missing) of a parameter (ie.
attack speed, health, mana, ability power) are not capitalized (ie. start with a lowercase), and that they are allemboldened (ie. bonus, maximum, missing). Additionally, all LoL specific terms (ie. dash, physical damage, death) are linked to their respective page on their first instance of appearing in the champion's ability descriptions, and their first instance only.
Empowered Active:Savagery'sbonus physical damage is increased to X (+ X% bonus AD) and applying it grants RengarX% bonus attack speed, X% AD bonus attack damage, and X% bonusmovement speed for 5 seconds.
Support — I definitely approve, I'm all for consistency!
Question — "on their first instance of appearing in the champion's ability descriptions, and their first instance only." Can I add something to this? If you open a new section such as "Ability Details" that is normally hidden from the page, you should link any firsts again. On every new section. This is how it has been done till now (Or should be at least).
I've been steadily editing the champion pages in alphabetical order as to conform them to this standardization, though I'm definitely far from being finished (I'm on an alternate device which doesn't have my note regarding which champion I'm up to, but I believe I'm up to Darius, more or less).
What you propose is a very good idea, but my plans only concern the actual ability descriptions, not their respective ability details. I will keep your proposal in mind during the edits I make in the future, but I won't be personally going back from Aatrox to implement this entirely.
Thanks for your offer to help. As said above, I'm currently going through the current roster of champions in alphabetical order as to standardize their ability descriptions (ie. I'm planning to standardize them all). If you could perhaps start from Z and work your way upwards towards A, then maybe we could finish this standardization more quickly together. Again, thanks a lot.
"Additionally, all LoL specific terms (ie. dash, physical damage, death) are linked to their respective page on their first instance of appearing in the champion's ability descriptions, and their first instance only."
Question — Those LoL specific terms are linked to their respective page on their first instance of appearing on the page or on a unique ability ? Ex.: if there is cooldown at the top of the page on the passive/innate description, and another cooldown at the bottom of the page, on the ultimate ability description; the first cooldown is going to be linked but the bottom one will be too or no ?
Those LoL specific terms are linked to their respective page on their instance of appearing on the page or on a unique ability ?
From what I understand, it's one instance per page, so in the example you mention the first "cooldown" would be linked but the one at the bottom would not. The idea behind this is that, as the reader goes through the page from top to bottom, they get links to any terms that might interest them, and afterwards they're assumed to have clicked those links, so the subsequent text can be less flashy and unnecessarily attention-grabbing. There are also a huge amount of terms that can be linked, and linking them only once prevents articles from turning half-blue.
Progress on my side has been rather slow compared to you Tylobic, so I thank you for all the hard work, and making this standardization possible. I hate to see you doing most of the labour though, so I'll see to it that I do some more ASAP.
Support — Standardising stats (bonus attack speed, maximum health)
Oppose — Only linking terms on their first instance
In my opinion everywhere that dash, for example, appears in an ability description it should link to it's page as well as always show the dash icon. The point is everywhere someone see's dash they can immediately understand it's interactions. dash means that it get's stopped by Veigar's cage , while blink doesn't get stop. The link is there for consistency. As more champions and mechanics get added to the game, it is important to have clarity on what things do. If someone open's Qiyana's page, they see that her W is a dash so they know it gets stopped by veig's cage. Also if they look at her E they also see dash so they know it has similar interactions with her W
