The Path of Champions Wiki • Legends of Runeterra
The Path of Champions 2.0 is a single-player roguelike game mode where the player's deck grows and changes as they progress through levels. The player begins with a starting champion and deck that evolves as they progress through the campaign and level up. Upgrades include new cards and buffs which can help them overcome the final boss of each campaign.
Before The Path of Champions 2.0, Legends of Runeterra had other single-player rougelike game modes. First was Lab of Legends, which got replaced by the Path of Champions in 2.19, which in turn got overhauled into The Path of Champions 2.0 in 3.8.
Description[]
The Path of Champions 2.0 is a series of campaigns in which the player plays against A.I. Each campaign is made up of nodes that either contain an enemy that you must play against or an encounter where you can modify your deck. Nodes remain hidden until you encounter them, with the exception of the boss nodes and hero power nodes.
Most campaigns have two bosses that have a champion in their deck, a mini boss at the halfway mark and the final boss at the end. Health carries over throughout the campaign and does not replenish between battles, but can be modified through healer nodes, relic items, in-game healing, hero powers, and a full heal after defeating a mini boss. If a player's health is completely depleted then they've lost the campaign. Nodes can diverge during a campaign, but all paths eventually lead to the final boss. Each campaign typically features a unique power that is applied to all enemies.
Before embarking on a campaign, players must choose a champion. All players begin with 4Jinx and can unlock more champions as they progress through the mode. Each champion has their own starting deck and hero powers that are upgraded as they level up. In order to complete a campaign and unlock new ones, you must beat them with champions from certain regions.
Inside a campaign there are multiple resources, including health, gold, reroll tokens, and revives. Gold allows players to purchase modifications to their decks or hero powers at store nodes and other encounters. Reroll tokens allow players to mulligan the choices the presented to them at encounters. Revives allow to players redo an encounter after they have lost, and set their health to 100%. These only last for 1 campaign and reset once the campaign is over.
Completing campaigns rewards resources that upgrades both champions and players. Finishing a campaign always rewards champion experience to the champion you completed the campaign with. Champion experience increases an indiviual champion's levels: unlocking deck upgrades, relic slots, items, and more. The amount of champion experience awarded is based off of campaign difficulty and the number of defeated foes. Beating a campaign for the first time on a champion required from a certain region will reward reliquaries, vaults, and legend points. Vaults contain champion fragments, which can be used to unlock new champions or upgrade a champion's hero powers. The amount of champion fragments is based off of a vault's rarity. Excess champion fragments are converted into Wild Fragments, at a rate of 5 to 1, which can be used on any champion. Reliquaries contain relic items. Bronze reliquaries contain common relics, with a chance of upgrading to a rare relic, while silver reliquaries contain a guaranteed rare relic. Legend points are used to increase one's Legend level, increasing Legend level rewards global buffs such as increased gold gain, additional reroll tokens, and more.
