The first iteration of The Path of Champions launched on November 10th, 2021 as part of the RiotX Arcane event. It was released with an Arcane themed event pass that ran from November 10th, 2021 to December 8th, 2021 and included unique adventures with animated comics for champions featured in Arcane. The game mode had an early access stage for influencers.
Description[]
The Path of Champions lab was a single-player campaign-style game mode where the player's deck grows and changes as they progress through a non-linear series of levels. It bears many similarities to roguelike games. The player chooses a starting champion with a starting deck that is upgraded as they progress through the campaign and level up. The upgrades include new cards and buffs which help them overcome the final boss of each campaign.
This is the first Lab of Legends game mode that has cross campaign progression, featuring level ups and permanent items. Before a campaign the player selects a champion and sets the champion's relics. Campaign are made of fights with set enemies, special quests, healers and shops.
Encounters include shops, healers and chests with upgrades. The player earns coins when they win fights, and they can use these coins to buy cards and powers. Encounters which lie directly beyond the current encounter are visible, all others are hidden. When players reach a fight encounter they have to win the match in order to move on.
The player's 
nexus has 30 points of maximum health. It starts the first fight of each adventure with maximum health (30 points), but in subsequent fights it starts with the same amount of health it had at the end of the previous encounter. If the health of the player's nexus reaches 0 the adventure is over (unless they use a revive), and they have to restart the adventure from the beginning in order to continue.
When the player defeats the final boss of an adventure they unlock the next adventure. Depending on how well they completed the adventure they might also earn badges.

Ekko Reputation rewards
In The Path of Champions, player can earn reputation for a champion as they play. As player unlock new rewards, some give players items that can be equipped before an adventure start.

Studded Leather, Pickaxe or Giant's Belt. - Random starting items

Relic is a special kind of item. They are earned after winning an adventure with level 2 or more. They are exclusive in this mode, and are less likely to involve in combat, and more likely to involve in progress through the combat.

Event Pass[]
The event introduced an Arcane inspired mega event pass, featuring cosmetics from the 
Gilded universe.
The "levels" of the pass are earned by winning games, therefore earning Hextech Crystals. Which were the currency for the event.
