The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.
Eka'Sul[]
Desert goats that travel in herds.
Mwatis[]
Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.
Kmiros[]
Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for Rammus.
Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.
Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger. Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.

Shuriman Camel[]
A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.
Sandswimmers[]
Sandswimmers
Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.

The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.
Taric is host to the Aspect of the Protector, wielding incredible power as Runeterra's guardian of life, love, and beauty. Shamed by a dereliction of duty and exiled from his homeland of Demacia, Taric climbed Mount Targon to find redemption, only to discover a higher calling among the stars. Imbued with the might of a celestial being, the “Shield of Valoran” now stands ever vigilant, against any who would threaten the people of this world.
Taric was born in Demacia, to a family with a long history of military service. Although his personal interests did not align with those of his family, he did not shirk this tradition, joining the ranks of the Demacian army and slowly working his way through the ranks, even fighting alongside a young Garen Crownguard. But whenever he had the chance, he found ways to explore the world around him, reminding himself of why the Demacian army fought, celebrating the small things in life such as art. Though he possessed great martial skill, he was also known for his charm and wit, and for doing much to help those in need, even volunteering with the Illuminators.
Continuing to rise through the ranks, he even became a part of the Dauntless Vanguard, something that would prove to be difficult for Taric. No longer could he wander the streets and rejoice in the small moments, but instead he was held to far higher standards, something which he struggled with, fearing he was losing himself. Upon the urging of Garen, and to avoid demotion within the Demacian army, he was sent to be a second to the Sword-Captain of the Vanguard.
One fateful night, the sword-captain and his troops were set upon by an unknown force, leaving Taric as the sole survivor. Rumors abounded that Taric had abandoned his post in favour of exploring the ruins of a nearby ruined temple, and according to Demacian law he faced death for his desertion. Garen, as a friend of Taric, instead sentenced him to undergo "the Crown of Stone", a Demacian punishment that involved climbing the slopes of Mount Targon, a task few had done and survived.
Though Garen had sentenced Taric to this fate as a means of sparing him and allowing him to start a life outside of Demacia, Taric saw it as an opportunity to atone for his actions, and set out to climb the mountain.
Appearance[]

Personality[]
Taric is the assigned protector of the entire planet and all that resides on it. He is willing to wade right through two armies to defend a flower, simply because it is the last of its kind. Likewise, Taric climbed Mount Targon seeking redemption for failing his men, and even his new role as the Aspect of Protection has hints of making amends.
Garen was Taric's lifelong friend. His nobility status allowed him to keep Taric safe from being accused of high treason and executed. But even Garen (who still believed in Taric but deep down thought he was wasting his talents by fooling around) turned on Taric after Voidborn killed the Shield of Valoran's men, resulting in his banishment and sentence to the Crown of Stone by the Might of Demacia himself.
Taric appreciates the beauty in all things (music, life). His role as Aspect of the Protector, and especially past experiences, have made The Void his enemy.
Mount Targon is the mightiest peak in Runeterra, a towering mountain of sun-baked rock amid a range of summits unmatched in scale anywhere else in the world. Located far from civilization, Mount Targon is utterly remote and all but impossible to reach save by the most determined seeker.
