Stealth is the mechanic that renders a unit invisible for a determined period of time. Stealth is divided into three categories: Ambush 2 Camouflage (or Strategic stealth), Twilight Shroud old2 Invisibility (or Tactical stealth) and Noxious Trap Stealthed traps.

Invisibility Shimmer

Units shimmer when attacked in stealth.

Camouflage

EditCamouflage is a form of stealth that is activated preemptively in order to ambush an enemy or to bypass the enemy's vision, usually lasting longer than Twilight Shroud old2 invisibility. It also grants Ghost ghosting.
  • Camouflaged units are temporarily revealed while being inside the line of sight (i.e not in the fog of war or behind terrain) of a nearby enemy Champion icon champion (with the range depending based on the ability), when within the vision radius of an enemy Control Ward item Control Ward (900 units), or from sources of True Sight icon True Sight.
  • Camouflaged units will briefly shimmer whenever they take damage. A unit cannot shimmer more frequently than once per second, and shimmering does not make a unit targetable nor remove the stealth effect, but grants positional information to the enemy.
  • When a camouflaged unit can be seen, they will be warned by an exclamation mark above them indicating they have been spotted.

Camouflage provides indicators that distinguish the state of the stealth effect.

Invisibility

EditInvisibility is a form of stealth that cannot be revealed by standard Sight icon sight. It can be utilized by Champion icon champions to sneak in on their opponents as well as the ability to reposition in-combat or simply to flee from a skirmish. It also grants Ghost ghosting.
  • Invisible units can only be revealed by True Sight icon True Sight and will briefly shimmer whenever they take damage (e.g. if hit by a skill shot). A unit cannot shimmer more frequently than once per second and doesn't make a unit targetable nor remove the stealth effect, but grants positional information to the enemy.

Vanish

EditIn addition to granting Playful untargetability, vanish briefly hides a unit from the game's renderer, which causes it to become completely undetectable and invisible even to effects such as Oracle Lens item Oracle Lens. Vanished units are Lockout icon unable to act, but in some cases have the ability to recast the ability that made them vanish. As with all Playful untargetability, Focused Resolve tethers will still persist on a target that vanishes.

Vanish is not considered Guerrilla Warfare stealth and does not interact with Sight icon sight effects.
Kalista OriginalSquare Kalista's Fate's Call Fate's Call is the only vanish effect that does not grant Playful untargetability for its entire duration.

Invisibility detection

There are various ways for a champion to gain the ability to see stealth. A champion with this ability will see a partially translucent outline of stealthed enemy units. When a revealed stealthed unit leaves the revealed area that unit does not experience a fade time; the unit immediately turns stealthed again. The following is a list of possible ways to detect stealthed champions:
