Runeterra (demonym: runeterran) is a Legends of Runeterra regional card set based on all of the world of Runeterra. Unlike other regions, Runeterra has unique deckbuilding rules.

Not bound by regions, Runeterrans walk their own paths, forging their destinies through pure volition. These regionless champions don't belong to mighty Demacia, the fearsome Shadow Isles, or anywhere in between. Instead, each has their own Origin.

Runeterran cards are different from cards from other regions; each one takes up a region slot in the player's deck. This means that in the standard format, a player can only include no more than two distinct Runeterran cards, and each one added means one less full region they can add to the deck. However, each Runeterran card has an Origin effect that will typically allow them to add cards of any region to their deck within certain constraints. For example, 4Jhin's  The Virtuoso allows the player to add units with Skills from any region.

The only collectible runeterran cards are champions, though some champions do generate non-collectable runeterran cards. Unlike champions of other regions, the Champion Spells of runeterran champions do not have a collectable counterpart, and often interact more directly with their associated champion.

The Origin of a runeterran card counts as one of the player's regions for all intents and purposes. For example, a card that generates units "from your regions" can also generate cards that fit within the Origin's deckbuilding conditions from any region. Despite this, any cards added or generated in regards to the Origin are still treated as part of their original region. Region-specific effects and triggers will activate as they would normally for them. Runeterran cards, however, are treated as having no region, meaning they can't trigger Allegiance, or other regional effects.
