Riftquest (Universe)

Riftquest is a series of alternate future/universe skins in League of Legends. Set in a more typical fantasy table-top role-playing setting of Runeterra, all of the champions are fantasy characters usually seen in any table-top game.

Danger lurks in the land of Runeterra! Powerful monsters, dastardly sorcerers, and mythical creatures roam unchecked! Gather your friends and create your own adventure for 3-5 players, vanquishing evil with each roll of the die. Do you have what it takes to save the world, and become a legend of RIFTQUEST?

Rift Master

Rift Master Darius
- 6Rift Master Darius (6Level 2)
  As a Rift Master, writing yourself into your own campaign often results in… questionable… storytelling. But by staying true to the rules of your world, you can still tell a satisfying story.
  Of course, you’ve crossed a line once you’ve made yourself a colossal, overpowered final boss. In the words of a certain aggrieved swordsman: “DARIUS! YOU’VE GONE TOO FAR!”

Playable Characters

Bard - Bard Bard
Though playing a famously unpopular Riftquest character class, Bard Bard has turned the ancient art of song into a reality-altering weapon of death. Unfortunately his turns take forever, since he has no concept of linear time and speaks in those weird “bwong” sounds.

  “I’m feeling capital ‘i’ inspired!” - Nami Tidecaller
  The entire party--minus a certain starry-eyed cleric--agreed to transition to physical game pieces, in no small part because Bard Bard’s spells were better seen and not heard.
Knight - Braum Lionheart
The strongest, bravest knight in all the land, people love Braum Lionheart and his daring tales of adventure! He's definitely not a stickler for 7th-edition Riftquest rules, and there are certainly not snax stains on his character sheet. That would be unbecoming of such a gallant warrior.
Barbarian - Rageborn Mundo
There are many tales of the Rageborn menace: that he's slain dragons with a single cleave, that the mightiest wizards cannot halt his advances, that no noble knight foolish enough to try and stop him has ever come back alive. The accounts often contradict each other, but the one thing they all agree on is this: Where Mundo goes, no one else pleases.
Rogue-Paladin - Nottingham Ezreal
An adventuring elf from the outlying forest kingdoms, Ezreal likes to present himself as a “handsome rogue-paladin” named Jarro Lightfeather. Very few people believe his claims of knighthood, but they serve as a decent enough distraction between his disastrous misadventures.
Assassin - Fizz Finslayer

  "...and I grab the loaf of bread out of the shopkeeper’s hand! Then I do a flip and run away before she can catch me!’”
  “Erm, Fizz. Perhaps that's not the wisest--AAAH! GET IT OFF!”
  “Fizz, did you put a scuttlecrab in Garen’s pauldron again?”
  “Heehee, you're exactly right, Nami!"
  "Then, I jump onto Darius’ big metal ax and yell, ‘I’mmmm Fizz, and I’m here to defeat you!’”
  “Hmph. As your Rift Master, I must ask. What did you roll for initiative?”
  “A natural 20… that was totally natural! Hahaha!”
  “Show me your dice, Fizz.”
  “Yippee, it’s combat time! Let’s roll high, Longtooth!” - Fizz Finslayer
  Longtooth was a Large creature, but the fearsome Darius Noxhand was practically Giant-sized.
Warrior - Rugged Garen
Also known as “Handsome Garen,” this wandering warrior and extremely original NPC was created by Braum for his Riftquest game. Garen eventually adopted the character as his own, liking the fantasy of himself, but rugged.

  “Garen. You put all your stat points into strength. You don’t have enough charisma.”
  “But Darius, I’m Rugged Garen. Surely I’m handsome enough!”
  “Ready yourself, Rift Master! I will show you the strength of a hero with zero charisma!”
Cleric - Gragas Caskbreaker
Gragas Caskbreaker is described in legend as both a pious, sun-worshipping cleric and a despicable drunk, depending on who tells the tale. He's not too familiar with Riftquest, but he does like fighting dragons and passing out in the middle of his combat actions.
Paladin - Jayce Brighthammer
A noble paladin who has inexplicably mastered science and engineering, Jayce Brighthammer is a stout ally no foul creature can best! Unless that foul creature is a loophole in the rulebook, since Jayce likes to get any advantage over the Rift Master he can.
Necromancer - Karthus Lightsbane
Dark sorcerer, master of forbidden magic, aspiring lich—all could describe Karthus Lightsbane, a high level spellcaster with shadowy motivations. The rest of the party is convinced he'll eventually betray them, since nothing in the Riftquest rules says he can't.
Monk - Monk Lee Sin

  “So, Lee Sin, the bartender approaches you, and--”
  “I kick him.”
  “But he’s smiling. As if he wants to be your fri--”
  “No. I kick him.”
  “...Fine. Roll an r20 for damage.”
  “Darius Noxhand advances towards your party, his head still bubbled up by Nami’s spell. Lee Sin, it's your turn."
  “I think you know what I must do.”
  "Please don't say--"
  "l KICK HIM!"
  “Ummm, Lee Sin. Put your foot away. This is supposed to be a friendly conversation.” - Nami Tidecaller
Dark Paladin - Lord Mordekaiser
Some of Mordekaiser's party complain that the Dark Paladin class is horribly overpowered and should be banned, despite its official inclusion in the latest Riftquest expansion. The rest of them are still waiting to discover the Dark Paladin's secret, redeeming, tragic backstory—but all they've been getting is a lot of murder instead.
Cleric - Nami Tidecaller

  “Nami, I’m low HP. A heal, please?”
  “Just one moment, Lee Sin. Since I have 2HP left, and I deal more damage, I believe Nami should prioritize healing ME.”
  “Garen, you do NOT deal more--”
  “Cut it out, you two. This monster’s almost dead. If I can land one more solid hit…”
  “A natural 20! That’s one oversized Rift Master, all bubbled up. Go get him, Lee Sin!”
  “Heed the tide's temper...” - Nami
  “...And cherish the swell's calm.” - Nami
  “I decide what the tide will bring.” - Nami
Soldiers - Demolisher Nunu & Willump
Serving as soldiers of fortune in pitched battles across the land, Demolisher Nunu & Willump are metal as ferro-bonded steel, and ready to introduce a flute-mace to your face.
Wizard - Ryze Whitebeard
Ryze likes to take time out of his rune hunting to play games of Riftquest as a tome-wielding, scroll protecting wizard also named Ryze. The difference, he will often point out, is that his own beard is black—Ryze Whitebeard's beard is white, plus he has hat.
Beast Rider - Sejuani Dawnchaser
Riding her dire lion into the thick of combat, Sejuani Dawnchaser is an intimidating foe for all but the greatest Riftquest threats. Sadly not the most careful roleplayer, she's on her fourth dire lion this campaign.
Barbarian - Barbarian Sion
Avoiding every social cue his roleplaying group throws his way, Sion has repeatedly rolled barbarians only to die immediately after rejoining the table. At this point he's spent more time working on character sheets than actually playing Rift Quest, and it shows: his newest barbarian's backstory reads, “Is a barbarian.”
Battle Priestess - Celestine Soraka
Rogue-Assassin - Talon Blackwood
Chromas: Aquamarine, Catseye, Obsidian, Pearl, Peridot, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Turquoise
The sworn brother of Twitch Shadowfoot, dashing assassin extraordinaire Talon Blackwood is one half of an infamous underworld duo and the only advanced class in the entire party. He's also a brooding dark elf antihero with a tragic backstory, who is fated to one day save the world! Probably.
Battle Cleric - Taric Luminshield
Chromas: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Obsidian, Pearl, Peridot, Rainbow, Rose Quartz, Ruby
A battle cleric who has to simultaneously tank and heal for a pair of bumbling rogues, Taric Luminshield may be the only thing keeping his table from a total party wipe. In-universe he's a devout warrior of the Divine Goddess Targonius, but out of universe he'd rather be in a different campaign.
Rogue-Thief - Twitch Shadowfoot
Chromas: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Citrine, Emerald, Obsidian, Pearl, Rose Quartz, Ruby
An extremely aggravating presence both in-game and at the table, Twitch Shadowfoot is the adorable Rift Quest counterpart to the actual Twitch, who is insane. Unsurprisingly, the cuddly rat-man rogue spends nearly every turn stealing his companions' equipment, mumbling of a vast conspiracy to overthrow him from his 'toilet kingdom'.
Archer - Varus Swiftbolt
Two archers cursed by an ancient, evil monster, Varus is roleplaying one archer cursed by an ancient, evil monster. It's not much of a departure for him, but Varus is way better at hunting Noxians than playing tabletop games.

Bladesong - Bladesong Yasuo
Crossing swords with Yasuo Bladesong is as much a dance as it is a duel. Peerless in speed and elegance, the last thing his enemies will see is a sight of true beauty: glittering silver singing through the wind with a whistle.

Druid - Zilean Wisewood

  “You say I cannot persuade the man? Preposterous! Darius, I demand to roll!”
  “You've already rolled, Garen! Stick to the rules of the game!”
  “Hold on, you two. If we just need to sneak past the guard, doesn’t Zilean have that spell that puts people to sleep?”
  “Excellent idea, Nami! Cast that spell at once, Zilean. ...Zilean?”
  “Oh! I cast… errr… oh dear. What was it again?”
  “Are you thinking of Time Warp, Zilean?”
  “Yes, thank you, Nami! I CAST TIME WARP!”
  Though it was one of his more powerful spells, Zilean cast Time Bomb infrequently not because he didn’t like it, but because he often forgot he had it.

Veigar Greybeard
A suspiciously helpful wizard the party meets early in their adventure, Veigar Greybeard holds a dastardly secret—he's the true villain of Riftquest! Of course, this is obvious to anyone who played the starter campaign, but you still shouldn't spoil it for newcomers.

Darius, Fizz, Lee Sin, Nami, and Zilean have Rift Quest skins unique to Legends of Runeterra.
This skin set was inspired by tabletop role-playing games.
- This skin set shares themes with Albion, Arcanists, Dragon World, Eclipse, Fables, Glacial, Guardian of the Sands, Medieval, Omen of the Dark, and Storybook skin sets.
Viktor was concepted to be a part of this skin line as the Dungeon Master of the group, his staff would have had a 20 sided die.^[1]
The Crystal Quest comic was made as officially endorced Riot community project, however characters and events made specifically in it (or taken from outside themes) was introduced with some creative liberty and as such is subject to future changes.
Yasuo have a Rift Quest skin unique to 2XKO.

Champions are both the players of the game and their in-game counterparts.
