Demacian Nobility

Noble TFT icon Nobility is a social class normally ranked immediately under royalty and found in some societies that have a formal aristocracy. Nobility possesses more acknowledged privileges and higher social status than most other classes in society.

Membership in the nobility has historically been granted by a monarch or government. They can be hereditary or gained by claimed wealth and achievements.

There are several types of nobility on Runeterra Crest icon Runeterra: Traditional nobility from Demacia Crest icon Demacia, Noxus Crest icon Noxus and Shurima Crest icon Shurima; Ruling Castes of Ixtal Crest icon Ixtal; Merchant Clans of Piltover Crest icon Piltover; Chem-Barons of Zaun Crest icon Zaun.


Demacia[]

As a monarchy, Demacia is governed by various royal families, regulating the nation primarily as members of the Demacian Council. While many of the Noble Houses have ruled for generations, they are treated as any other citizen under the nation's strict laws and are not exempt from them. They may even be treated more harshly under the law as they are meant to serve as shining examples of how Demacian citizens should conduct themselves, publicly and privately.

His descendants would continue his legacy and manage to make similar petricite golems in secret, finally unleashing their creations to the wider Demacian public and against the invading Noxians.

Laurent House Crest icon

A family known for its long line of elite duelists and lovers of beautiful things. It is currently headed by Fiora Laurent after she caught her father cheating before a duel and fought him for control over the House.

The Lightshield family have been the royal family of Demacia continuously for the last three generations.

Spiritmight

One of the most influential political forces in Demacia. Lady Catherine Spiritmight married Jarvan III Jarvan III, joining the royal family.

Ixtal[]

The Mage Autocracy functions on a caste system where every person has a set role in society. An individual can rarely change their caste and are often within a caste for their entire life. The Social Hierarchy within a caste is based on the length of time spent in study, furthering their progression toward ultimate mastery. The current ruling caste of Ixtal Crest icon Ixtal are the Yun Tal.

Noxus[]

These noble houses have existed since the first walls were raised around Noxus, and lead lives of privilege as they play a key role in politics. They believed that their proud heritage was the nation's greatest strength, but many hungered for greater influence, plotting against Boram Darkwill Boram Darkwill with a secret cabal united by nothing more than the symbol of a black rose. Old noble families still wield considerable power at the heart of the empire.

A house whose known member is part of the Tides of Blood Crimson Circle.

Darkwill

A family that was the ruling house of Noxus before the Noxus Crest icon Trifarix.

Du Couteau

A house that rules one of the largest assassin guilds in Noxus, with historic ties to the Solid Rose Clasic Faction Colors Black Rose. Matron Soreana is secretly part of the cabal, while Patron Marcus had used their aid in an attempt to assassinate Swain Swain. Much of the remaining members are in hiding, save for Katarina.

Granth

A house that remained loyal to Darkwill during and after the coup. The most notorious members were stripped of their possessions and two of its members were later killed in attempts of revenge, one of those attempts being linked to LeBlanc's LeBlanc's schemings.

Kythera

A house that merged with House Zaavan with a carefully planned marriage by Elise, its previous matron.

Noradi

A house whose known members are part of the Tides of Blood Crimson Circle.

Sassen

A house whose lord was swayed by the charms of Lady Elise Elise and was never seen again.

Swain

One of the first noble houses in Noxus, with historic ties to the Solid Rose Clasic Faction Colors Black Rose. Most if not all other members were executed after Jericho exposed them for plotting against the empire.

Tewain

The noble house responsible for gaining favor of numerous Minotaur clans before claiming Basilich. Its matron was killed by Alistar Alistar, who rejected the alliance.

Zaavan

A house that merged with House Kythera with a carefully planned marriage by Elise.

Piltover[]

The mercantile clans of Piltover each have their own unique sigil to identify their homes, workshops, shipments, warehouses, inventions, brands and places of business. Each sigil bears many meanings and interpretations; some obvious, some less so.

Lord Arvino's untimely death thrusted his sheltered daughter Sofia into leading one of the richest families in Piltover. She had fallen in love with Marko Volkage, a Zaunite chem-baron trying to gain power in Piltover. They planned an engagement in a Zaun cultivar, but it was cut short when Camille Camille assassinated Volkage. Camille then made a deal with the intelligencer of House Arvino, Adalbert, to keep Sofia out of trouble.

Cadwalder

Uberti was the first to design the self-locomotor, but rumor has it that one of Clan Medarda's agents stole some schematics of this project, leading to the creation of a self-locomotor in Clan Medarda's mansion. Clan Torek also tried to convince Uberti to join it, and it is unknown which clan she is in.

Clan Ferros gained most of its wealth through a rare crystal harvested from the Runeterra Crest icon Brackern of Shurima. Utilizing certain shadow investments in chemtech and runic alchemy, the Ferros family brought to market the synthetic hex-crystals: less powerful, but easier to procure. Such power often comes with consequences, and the production of synthetic crystals is rumored to be a heavy contributor to the Zaun Gray.

Giopara

Jayce earned the honor of being the youngest apprenta to ever be offered patronage by Clan Giopara, one of Piltover's most respected ruling clans. He spent most of his early years constructing potential hextech devices and designing transformable multi-tools for Piltover's working class. Ferros would later outbit Giopara and take Jayce as their apprenta.

Holloran

A well known clan that refused a Zaunite boy for apprenticeship, after which Boswell Holloran almost died from a fall from a mysterious gust of wind mysterious gust of wind that launched him off his balcony.

Kiramman Clan Crest

The Kirammans are a wealthy and influential family of hextech artificers. They are also known for their lavish lifestyle of hunting in the wilder lands outside of Piltover.
In the Arcane 2021 profileicon Arcane event, they have funded the study and research of hextech with their apprenta Jayce Talis Jayce Talis.

Medarda Colors: Red

The Merdardas command great prestige and influence due to their efforts in constructing the Sun Gates. With the revenue generated by his father's piston patents, Master Jago funded research into using hextech to speed up the operation of the Sun Gates.
Heir apparent Jae preferred hunting ancient artifacts over managing the family business, much to his father's chagrin.
In Arcane 2021 profileicon Arcane, Clan Medarda has family ties with Noxus.

Clan Tariost is a powerhouse in the shipping trade. Lady Aurelie fell in love with Karvyq the Silverhanded during the last Jubilee, but the clan did not approve of his low standing. After Aurelie passed away, Karvyq stole her ashes to honor a promise he made that day.

Shurima[]

Shurima Crest icon Shurima currently has no centralized government; most regions are controlled by local leaders due to the isolation of many settlements. While the Shuriman Empire reigned, all regions were governed by feudal lords who answered to the Emperor of Shurima in the capital. Targon Crest icon Targon, Kahleek, Renek, Kumungu, Kalduga, Faraj, Ixtal Crest icon Ixtal, Icathia ... were some of the nations that once belonged to the empire. Azir Azir intends to reunify Shurima after his resurrection. His motivation to bring the golden light of Shurima to other nations as he truly believes that Shurima was the height of civilization, and could only continue to grow more wonderful.

Timeworn accounts of Amumu depict him as sometimes a prince of vanity, or having been afflicted with a disease that corrupted flesh. A third story tells of the first and last Yordle ruler of Shurima, whom lived and died as a beggar hoping to make one true friend, and prove the goodness in the human heart.

It is they and their thugs who keep Zaun from descending into chaos.

Corina is a meticulous artist with ambitious dreams for Zaun's future, and aims to become the envy of Piltover's ruling houses and Zaun's warring chem-barons alike. She enjoys gathering deadly ingredients from the rare plants that she grows in her cultivair, her scars artfully concealed by fashionable accoutrements. Her current Magnum Opus is a rare flower that feeds on the volatile chemicals of the Zaun Grey. She is also the arch-nemesis of Sheriff Caitlyn Kiramman Caitlyn Kiramman.

A chem-baron who spent his fortune on high-grade chemtech. He was killed by Urgot Urgot.

Eramis has occasionally made deals with Piltovan nobles, such as LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator2 Reggie of Clan Ferros.

A Chem-Baron who was active during Silco's Silco's reign over Zaun. His company, the Slickjaws, specializes in elimination services and purveys both weaponry (including poisons) and manpower for large-scale operations. He attempted to overthrow Silco in disaffection, but fell by the blade of Silco's right-hand Sevika Sevika.

Karvyq the Silverhanded

In his youth, Karvyq fell in love with Aurelie of House Tariost. As their love was forbidden, her family had his hands cut off as punishment for his low standing. He replaced them with silver prosthetics, making him known as the Silverhanded. When Aurelie died, Karvyq had a thief steal her ashes, which he then tattooed onto his chest. In the modern age, Karvyq is known for his chemtech products, which are extremely sophisticated, and his intense hatred towards House Tariost.

A Chem-Baroness who was active during Silco's reign over Zaun. Her company, The Vyx, provides pleasure services in the undercity, catering to any impulse, persuasion, or inclination.

Zaun Baron Marko Volkage

A chem-baron who terrorized the gutters of Zaun, Marko attempted to forcibly marry Lady Sofia of House Arvino so that he would inherit her family's wealth and influence in Piltover. He was assassinated by Camille Camille of Clan Ferros before he could do so.

A chem-baron who lost both his arms in an explosion at one of his chem-refineries and had them replaced with mechanical prosthetics. His chemtech stock is one of the most popular blends in Zaun.

A chem-baronness who prefers to use manipulation instead of violence to achieve her goals. After being orphaned as a child and left with nothing but her name and her parents' alchemical research, she spent the next few decades building her own business empire by tying everyone's interests to her own and ultimately emerged as Zaun's wealthiest crime lord.
Her company, Glasc Industries, produces weaponry, prosthetics, and perfumes from an unique blend of chemicals developed by her parents.

A Chem-Baroness who was active during Silco's reign over Zaun. Her company, the Sludgerunners, manufactures chemtech devices for the denizens of the undercity. After her son was accidentally killed by Jayce Talis Jayce Talis during a raid on one of her factories, she joined Finn Finn in his attempt to overthrow Silco, but backed down after Sevika killed Finn. She has a custom Turbo Chemtank named after her.

Zaun Baron Saito Takeda

An Ionian chem-baron known for his violent temperament, he has a reputation for bloody gang warfare and is disdainful towards his fellow chem-barons. Claiming lineage from an exiled caste of warriors from a distant land, he has plans far beyond his own territories and interests. He was also responsible for funding the super-soldier project that created the monster Zac Zac.

Silco Silco

A drug kingpin who formed the first generation of Chem-Barons and served as their leader. He introduced the drug shimmer to the Zaunite population. After ruling over the undercity for nearly a decade, he was accidentally killed by his adoptive daughter Jinx Jinx when she suffered a mental breakdown.

The Scrap Hackers Crest icon

A Yordle Chem-Baron who was active during Silco's reign over Zaun. His company, the Scrap Hackers, performs cybernetic modifications both cosmetic or performative, from genome hacking to mech-exoskeletons.

Velveteen Lenare
Zaun Baron Velveteen Lenare

A chem-baroness with many business interests in Piltover, she deals mainly into golem technology. Her ravaged body was dying, so she had her head transplanted to a hextech-powered replacement. She visits Piltover regularly for fluid baths and blood/oil transfusions.

Voss

A chem-baroness who served as the warden of the Dredge, a chemtech prison mine located underneath Zaun. She would sometimes offer freedom in return for a prisoner's tortured confession, which she granted with the edge of her blade. She was eventually forced to abandon the Dredge and flee to Piltover after a violent encounter with Urgot, who took control of the mine in her place.

A chem-baron who rose to power by murdering his boss and taking over his criminal empire. Armed with a pair of shock-batons, he is a ruthless killer who sees murder and mayhem as tools of the trade. He currently works for Glasc Industries.
