Teamfight Tactics Monster 01

Monsters during planing phase.

This is about Teamfight Tactics icon Teamfight Tactics Monsters. For other uses of Monster, see Monster (disambiguation)

Monsters are neutral enemies show up in PvE rounds in the Teamfight Tactics game modes. They can have the appearance of Red Minions or Monsters in other game modes.

Gameplay[]

Mechanics[]

Teamfight Tactics Monster 02

Champions attacking Krugs.

Just like normal rounds, if the player champions cannot kill the enemies, the player Little Legends will take damage. However, before each PvE round, the players are shown the upcoming monster(s) they will be facing, indicated by both on their board and in the stage tracker. After the first 3 PvE rounds, all monster rounds will occur at the end of each stage.

In early sets of TFT, losing to PvE encounters wasn't unusual but they have since been heavily scaled down in difficulty to prevent players from missing out on loot drops due to a weak early game. In Set 6 almost all teams of at least average or slightly below average power will be able to beat any of the monster rounds.

Killing a monster has a chance to drop a What's in the Orb profileicon mystery box. Each mystery box has a rarity, granting various rewards based on its rarity:

  • Common boxes contain: gold Gold gold (average 3 3.5), champions, or Neeko's Help Neeko's Help.
  • Uncommon Boxes contain: component items, gold Gold gold (average 7 7.5), champions, or Neeko's Help Neeko's Help.
    • If they contain a Neeko's Help Neeko's Help, they also give 2 additional gold.
  • Rare boxes contain: a Spatula Spatula, advanced items, gold Gold gold (average 9 Gold 9), champions, or Neeko's Help Neeko's Help.
    • If they contain a Neeko's Help Neeko's Help, they also give 5 additional gold.

At least one mystery box is guaranteed by winning a PvE round. The stronger the monster, the higher chance it will drop an item. The first 3 PvE rounds always drop at least 1 orb.

Every player gets approximately the same number of boxes and the same number of item components across a single game.

The Raptor round is the last round that each player will receive component items from PvE rounds. Generally, this is the last chance to consider looking at all available item combinations before making completed items

Epic monsters have a combined item and get the benefit from them. The item is then dropped as a rare box when the monster is killed.

Like champions, monsters can have a special ability. Each monster round has a different mechanic. Knowing the mechanics allow players to prepare position and champions better. To trigger the special ability, some monsters have mana, a resource that can be generated and depleted to cast the ability.

In the original auto chess battler DOTA Auto Chess, it was possible to lose the very first round if the player picked the weakest unit with a weak item. Thankfully, as of now, this is not possible in TFT.
