After  Jinx's violent theft of a Hextech gemstone, Councilor  Jayce Talis instituted a lockdown at the Bridge of Progress in order to protect Piltover from future  Zaunite attacks. This angered many Zaunites who assembled at the bridge to protest the blockade. Sergeant Billingsworth was tasked to lead the crowd control of the riotous mob. Although Sergeant Billingsworth conveyed that he and his men understood their frustrations, his requests for the mob to stand down were ignored and some from the mob began to throw molotov cocktails at the Piltover police. |

Grayson was the humble Sheriff of the Enforcers in Piltover. Her dedication to protecting and being of service to the innocent people of her city made her an inspiration to a young  Caitlyn Kiramman. After a gang of Undercity kids botched a bulgary that led to an explosion of a  Kiramman workshop, Grayson and her partner  Marcus were tasked by the Piltover Council to apprehend the perpetrators and make an example out of them. Grayson had a deal with the Undercity's leader,  Vander, to not make trouble for each other's respective cities and now she needed him to give up the criminals to preserve the peace for their respective factions. Vander couldn't allow that as the perpetrators were his kids. Nevertheless, Grayson kept the lines of communication between them open in case Vander wanted to deal with the situation discreetly. In the meanwhile, Grayson tried to temper the Piltover Council's aggressive sanctions on the Undercity and prevent her hothead partner, Marcus, from exacerbating tensions between Piltover and Zaun. Vander eventually gives himself up to be the scapegoat for the botched bulgary, but before Grayson can transport Vander to Piltover,  Silco has Grayson and her accompanying Enforcers killed in order to kidnap Vander. Marcus succeeds Grayson as sheriff but his unintentional involvement in Grayson's death entraps him, and is used by Silco to coerce him to work for him. |

| Ximena Talis is the mother of Jayce Talis and is presumably a widow, since Jayce's father is only seen in photographs. Ximena appeared to have recognized that Jayce was a dreamer with a brilliant mind, and so she helped Jayce nurture his sense of discovery and wonder by taking Jayce on excursions to see the world beyond Piltover. During a fateful hike in the mountains, Ximena and Jayce were caught in a blizzard and Ximena suffered from frostbite in two of her fingers—but they were saved by a wandering mage. Jayce watched as the mage drew power from a hex crystal in order to teleport both Jayce and Ximena to a warmer area, thus saving both their lives. Ever since then, Jayce was obsessed with harnessing magic in a science he calls Hextech. His Hextech studies were unsanctioned by the Piltover Academy and when a botched bulgary of his workshop unveiled the volatile nature of his experiments, Jayce was put on trial for illegal experimentation and endangering Piltover. When Jayce defended his life's work as revolutionary and seemed unremorseful for violating the ethos of Piltover, Ximena publicly denigrated Jayce's ambitions and pleaded with the Piltover Council to not banish her son. Her pleas moved a majority of the Council and Jayce was instead expelled from the Piltover Academy and remanded to the care of his mother. Jayce was disappointed that even his mother didn't have faith in his work but Ximena conveyed that she didn't want Jayce to ruin his life over a dream and urged him to give it up. Nevertheless, Jayce proved all his critics wrong and was able to prove Hextech as a viable practice. From then on, Jayce used Hextech to revolutionize Piltover and Ximena beamed with pride as Jayce was not only able to achieve his dream, but was also accumulating prestige, fame, and influence in the process. As the potential for the misuse of hextech begins to increase, Jayce is pressured into creating hextech weapons to defend Piltover. Although Ximena doesn't know all the details, she can sense that her son is troubled by the weight of his responsibilities and tries to comfort him. |
