Each time Maokai casts an ability or is struck by an enemy's ability, Sap Magic's Cooldown reduction icon.png cooldown is reduced by 4 seconds.

Sap Magic will not activate if Maokai is above 95% maximum Health icon.png health.

Sap Magic Bladework.png resets Maokai's basic attack timer.

Enemies near Maokai are also Stun icon.png stunned for 0.5 seconds and Airborne icon.png knocked back up to 300 units based on their proximity to him.

    • He will dash to the target's previous location without applying Twisted Advance's effects if the target is too far away or moves beyond the maximum tracking distance.
    • He will stop dashing if the target is too far away the moment the dash begins.
  • Twisted Advance will fail to deal damage and apply the Root icon.png root if the target is Playful.png untargetable upon arrival.

Active: Maokai Projectile.png flings a Sapling to the target location, granting Sight icon.png sight of the area.

Once landed, Saplings remain stationary for 30 seconds or until they react to the first nearby visible enemy, chasing them for up to 2.5 seconds. Saplings explode upon colliding with an enemy or when they expire, dealing magic damage to all nearby enemies upon detonation, capped at 300 against non-champions, and Slow icon.png slowing them by 35% for 2 seconds.

Magic Damage:
25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 (+ 7 / 7.25 / 7.5 / 7.75 / 8% (+ 0.8% per 100 AP) of target's maximum health)

Saplings placed in a Brushmaker.png brush instead last 30 (+ 2.5% bonus health) seconds and deal double damage to struck targets over 3 instances as well as Reveal icon.png revealing them for 3 seconds. The first instance of damage is dealt instantly and the second and third instances occur each 0.75 seconds thereafter. The total damage is capped at 600 against non-champions.

  • Applies Death Lotus.png area damage from a normal Sapling and deals Blaze.png persistent damage to enemies hit by an empowered Sapling.
  • Saplings have a base movement speed of 400, increased based on Maokai's boots:
  • Sapling Toss grants Sight icon.png sight of the target location even while the Sapling is in flight.
  • The Saplings will continue to chase their target even if they lose Sight icon.png sight of them (but they do not prioritize champions so they will chase the first target they encounter).
  • Saplings will appear on the map as minions despite being untargetable and invulnerable.
  • Saplings cannot stack on top of each other (they will move a short distance away from one another if they are aimed at the same location).
  • Spell Shield.png Spell shield does not negate the damage from an empowered Sapling.
  • The damage of empowered Saplings is equally split into chunks of 66.7% of the normal Sapling damage every second, once immediately, and then at the 1 and 2 second mark.
  • The Sapling will stop its movement upon colliding with Unbreakable Unbreakable.
  • Saplings attack Baron Nashor Baron Nashor always at the same two points, no matter where they were placed.

Active: Maokai summons a colossal wall of 5 thorny brambles that slowly advances in the target direction, accelerating over time, each stopping when they collide with an enemy Champion icon.png champion.

Each bramble deals magic damage to enemies caught within and Root icon.png roots them for 0.8 − 2.6 (based on distance traveled) seconds.

Magic Damage:
150 / 225 / 300 (+ 75% AP)

  • Any one enemy champion can be affected by Nature's Grasp more than once; they can be damaged and rooted by other brambles even after already colliding with one.
  • The brambles are made up of 4 Projectile.png missiles each which trail 100 units behind one another. The front missile carries the visual effect. When colliding with a champion, all missiles of one bramble are destroyed simultaneously.
    • Missiles destroyed by other means such as Samira's Samira's Blade Whirl Blade Whirl may not destroy their fellows from the same branch, resulting in one or more invisible missiles that may still collide.(note)
  • Nature's Grasp will fire based on Maokai's location at the start of the cast time.
