Not to be confused with Physical vamp.

Life steal icon Life steal is a stat that grants Heal power icon healing equal to a percentage of the Basic Attack basic damage dealt. It applies to basic attacks, including those that are modified (such as Siphoning Strike Siphoning Strike or Sheen item Spellblade), and abilities that are considered by the game engine to act as one (usually those which trigger on-hit effects e.g. Mystic Shot Mystic Shot, Parrrley Parrrley, Steel Tempest Steel Tempest). Life steal does not benefit from Heal power icon Heal Power. The damage of most item On-hit icon on-hit effects benefits from life steal, denoted by the icon.

The healing is based on the post-mitigation damage dealt, meaning after sources of armor, magic resistance, and damage reduction are taken into account.

All champions have 0% base life steal, but it can be gained from certain abilities, as well as items and runes.

Gold Value

  • Life steal has a gold value of 53 53.55 per point.

Damage which applies life steal[]

Generally speaking, all Basic Attack basic damage applies life steal by default, regardless of subtype: Attack damage physical damage dealt by basic attacks, Magic damage magic damage dealt by Corki's Corki's Hextech Munitions Hextech Munitions basic attacks and Hybrid penetration true damage dealt by Camille's Camille's Precision Protocol Precision Protocol all restore health based on the damage dealt in conjunction with life steal.

For damage types other than basic damage to apply life steal, they have to be tagged as such:

Edit"Applies life steal" is a damage tag that gives an ability the property of having a damage source apply Life steal icon life steal like Basic Attack basic attack damage would.
This tag is located on some abilities that deal spell damage (e.g. Samira's Samira's Flair Flair and Inferno Trigger Inferno Trigger) and items that deal damage On-hit icon on-hit.

Life steal icon Life steal does not have a penalty for area of effect abilities and is always applied to the damage dealt at 100% effectiveness, unless otherwise specified. Unlike Vamp, the "applies life steal" tag applies life steal directly and does not Heal power icon heal based on damage dealt and the life steal stat. Therefore healing modifiers that affect life steal also affect abilities with the "applies life steal" tag.

Notes[]

  • Spirit Visage's Spirit Visage's passive is a unique multiplicative increase. For example, if a unit had 10% life steal, the 25% increase would be calculated as: 10% × 1.25 = 12.5% life steal.
  • Life steal does not apply to damage dealt to structures nor H-28G Evolution Turret H-28G Evolution Turret or H-28Q Apex Turret H-28Q Apex Turret.
  • Life steal applies on damage to wards after the damage is reduced to 1, restoring effectively no health.
  • Grievous Wounds icon Grievous Wounds reduces the health restored by life steal.
  • Blade of the Ruined King's Blade of the Ruined King's bonus damage healing is considered a drain effect, even though it scales off life steal. This means that the healing is affected by Heal power icon Heal Power.
