By following these guidelines, we can ensure that our character pages are accurate, consistent, and easy to read, and that they accurately reflect the lore of the Runeterra Map profileicon Runeterra Prime and Arcane 2021 profileicon Arcane universe. Thank you for your contribution to the community!

Structure[]

Lead section[]

The lead section should provide a brief overview of the character, including their name and any notable nicknames or aliases. This section should give the reader a general sense of who the character is and what they are known for.

The following templates are used when making up this section:

  • {{Section top}} - This template categorizes pages sharing the same base page name together and allows for champion subpages to link to the equivalent language wiki tabs.
  • {{Game banner}} - This template displays a banner at the top of the page featuring the champion's name and an image of them, as well as a navigation to other subpages of the character. It also includes optional parameters for a background image and banner positioning.
  • {{Universe navigation}} (optional) - If the character is featured in Arcane, this template may be used after the "Game banner" template to provide navigation links to other universes.
  • {{Champion bio}} - This template displays an infobox containing information about the champion. It includes parameters for the champion's name, images, species, pronouns, age, weapon, status, and related champions, etc.

After these templates, if the character is a playable character in League of Legends icon League of Legends, a character blurb that is featured in the game itself and the {{Background quote}} template which links to the character's biography in League of Legends should be added below the {{Champion bio}} template.

If the character is not a playable character in League of Legends, this character blurb should be handwritten by an editor.

Background[]

The background section begins with a brief summary of the champion's origins and early life, followed by more information about their involvement in significant events. It then describes the current actions of the champion, as they continue to play a prominent role in the world. The paragraph may also include a description of the champion's appearance and personality. This section should give the reader a deeper understanding of the character's history and context within the Runeterra Map profileicon Runeterra Prime or Arcane 2021 profileicon Arcane universe.

Appearance[]

The appearance section should describe the character's physical appearance, including their attire and any notable physical features. This section should give the reader a sense of what the character looks like and how they present themselves.

Personality[]

The personality section should describe the character's personality, including their traits, motivations, and any notable characteristics. This section should give the reader a sense of the character's personality and how they interact with others.

Abilities[]

The abilities section should list the character's powers and abilities, including any magical or special abilities they possess. This section should give the reader an understanding of the character's abilities and how they use them.

Relationships[]

The relationships section is structured as a list of subheadings, each describing the champion's relationships with other characters. Under each subheading, there is a paragraph or several paragraphs describing the nature of the champion's relationship with that character and any relevant history or interactions between them. The subheadings are typically the names of the other characters and are organized alphabetically. This section provides insight into the champion's relationships with other characters and how they have interacted and affected each other.

Read More[]

The Read More section, created using the {{More lore}} template, includes a variety of stories and information related to the character or topic, including Universe stories in which they have starred or been mentioned, as well as outdated or alternate universe lore stories that they may have featured in. This additional content provides a deeper understanding of the character or topic and can help to enrich the reader's understanding and appreciation of the character or topic.

To add a story to a character's Read More section, you can follow these steps:

  • Open the Module:UniverseData/data module. This module contains a list of all the stories that can be included in the "More lore" section for a character.
  • Find the entry for the story you want to add in the list of stories. This entry will contain information about the story, such as its title, reference URL, artwork, author, and which characters are featured or mentioned in the story.
  • Add the name of the character you want to add the story to in the appropriate field. If the character is featured as a main character in the story, add their name to the ["starring"] field. If the character is mentioned in the story, add their name to the ["mentioned"] field.

For example, if you want to add the story "The Cryophoenix" to a character named Anivia, you would add their name to the ["starring"] field like this:

["The Cryophoenix"] = {
  ["reference"] = "https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/champion/anivia",
  ["artwork"] = "Anivia OriginalCentered.jpg",
  ["author"] = {"Anthony Reynolds Lenné"},
  ["starring"] = {"Anivia"},
  ["mentioned"] = {"Ashe"},
  ["region"] = {"Freljord"},
  ["loretype"] = "Biography",
}

Trivia[]

The trivia section provides additional information about the character that may not fit elsewhere in the page. This information can include interesting or obscure facts about the character, their relationships with other characters, or their in-game mechanics or abilities.

The trivia section is typically structured as a list of bullet points, with each point providing a brief piece of information about the character. The points may be organized by topic or theme, or they may be presented in no particular order.

When a character is featured in skins, the Trivia section kan be split into the subsections General and Skins.

Change log (optional)[]

The change log section is a table that lists the updates and changes that have been made to the character's blurb over time. Each row of the table includes the date of the change and the updated version of the character blurb. The change log is optional and is only included if there have been changes made to the character blurb. It is not included for characters who are not featured in League of Legends.

An example of how the change log section might be structured is as follows:

==Change log==
{| class="article-table ruling-table"
! colspan="2" | Character blurb
|-
| Month Year
{{Collapse cell|Description of change|
Content of changed character blurb}}
|-
| Month Year
{{Collapse cell|Added. |
Content of new character blurb}}
|}

References (optional)[]

The references section is used to provide a list of external sources that were used within the article to support certain statements or claims. This section is typically placed at the bottom of the page and is marked with the heading "References".

To use this section, the ref tag is used within the article to indicate a reference to an external source. When the article is saved, the reference is automatically added to a list at the bottom of the page under the references heading. This list includes the name of the source and a link to it.

If there are no ref tags used within the article, then the references section should be omitted.

For example:

<ref>Reference information</ref>

In the references section:

<references />

which becomes:

  • Reference information

This allows readers to easily find the sources for the information in the article. It is important to ensure that all information included in an article is properly referenced to maintain credibility and reliability.

See also[]

The See also section typically includes templates that allow readers to navigate to other related pages. The following templates are used to make up this section:

  • {{Character categories}} - This template allows users to categorize the page based on various characteristics of the character, such as whether they are playable in game or featured in certain universe. This template also allows users to specify which universes the character appears in, such as League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, or Arcane.

Concepts[]

In this section, we explore essential concepts vital for maintaining consistency across all Character pages. These key principles allow editors to present a unified narrative, enhancing the overall quality and accessibility of character-related content on the platform.

Age template[]

The {{age}} template is designed to calculate and display the age of characters within the Runeterra Map profileicon Runeterra Prime universe. It is not able to accurately calculate the age of characters within other universes, such as Arcane 2021 profileicon Arcane, because the time scale and other factors may be different. Therefore, it is only appropriate to use the {{age}} template for characters within the Runeterra Prime universe, where it can accurately calculate and display their age.

{{Champion bio|Champion name
|origin = {{age}}

The use of images[]

When creating a Character page that incorporates, it's crucial to ensure that the visual elements enhance the overall presentation of the content. To achieve a polished and cohesive look, consider the following guidelines:

  • Using Css-styling To Position to the Right:
In cases where images appear to be pushed lower than intended by the infobox or disrupt the page layout, it is recommended to position them to the right by the use of css-styling and encapsulation. An example of this can be seen below.
<div style="float:right">[[File:....]]</div>
  • Alternate Left to Right Placement:
To create a dynamic and balanced visual flow, take advantage of the opportunity to alternate the position of images from left to right. This not only adds aesthetic appeal but also prevents a monotonous arrangement, making the page more engaging for readers. Striking a balance between left and right alignment contributes to a harmonious and well-structured character page.
  • Minimum Width of 250px:
In order to make the images stand out, a minimum of 250px is required. It is recommended for the images to adhere to a width of 300px. Consistency in image dimensions contributes to a more cohesive visual presentation throughout the character page.
