Divine Ascent
Divine Ascent.png

Innate: Upon reaching levels 1, 6, 11, and 16, along with spending a skill point, Kayle ascends into a new form, gaining additional bonuses.

Zealous.png

Level 1 - Zealous: Kayle on-attack gains Attack speed icon.png 6% (+ 1% per 100 AP) bonus attack speed for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times for a maximum of 30% (+ 5% per 100 AP). At maximum stacks, Kayle becomes Exalted, gaining Movement speed icon.png 8% bonus movement speed.

Level 6 - Arisen: Kayle becomes Ranged role.png ranged and gains Range icon.png 350 bonus attack range, for a total of Range icon.png 525.

Level 11 - Aflame: While Exalted, Kayle on-attack additionally launches a wave of fire forward, dealing 15 − 35 (based on Starfire Spellblade.png Starfire Spellblade's Rank) (+ 10% bonus AD) (+ 25% AP) magic damage to enemies it passes through. The wave is affected by Critical strike icon.png critical strike modifiers.

Level 16 - Transcendent: Kayle permanently has maximum stacks of Zeal and gains Range icon.png 50 bonus attack range, for a total of Range icon.png 575.

Notes

Zealous

  • All sources of ability power are valid to increase the attack speed until ascending to Transcendent, after which the following sources won't be eligible for the scaling*:
  • The stacking attack speed is tracked via a buff called Zealous.png Zeal, while the maximum stacks bonus grants the buff Divine Ascent.png Exalted.
  • If Kayle is in her attack animation after the stacks expire, she gains another 0.5 seconds to refresh/stack Zealous.png Zeal.

Arisen

  • Basic attacks within Range icon.png 175 will still use her melee basic attack animations and do not utilize Projectile.png projectiles.
    • They are still classified as Ranged role.png ranged attacks.
    • Due to this fact, projectile blocking effects cannot intercept basic attacks while Kayle's target is within her "melee" range.

Aflame

  • While at 4 stacks of Zealous.png Zeal, the next on-attack reaching the fifth stack will be empowered by Aflame, releasing the first fire wave.
  • The fire waves do not trigger when attacking structures.

Transcendent

  • Zealous.png Zeal and Divine Ascent.png Exalted buffs becomes permanent and are no longer visible on Kayle's HUD.

Fire waves details

  • A wave consists of three projectiles for the hitbox and a fourth for visuals.
  • The hitbox projectiles spawn 75 units behind Kayle, travel through her, and are destroyed once they've traveled 850 units.
    • Range: Range model.png 850
    • Width: Range model.png 200
    • Projectile Speed: 2800
    • Angle: 9° (left and right missiles at 4.5° to their side, respectively)
  • Projectile.png Projectile blocking effects can block each projectile individually.
    • It is possible to block the visuals, but still get hit by an unblocked "invisible" hitbox projectile.
  • Hitting an enemy with multiple projectiles of the same wave will not increase the damage dealt.
  • Fire waves roll Critical strike icon.png critical strike chance on each target hit individually.

Interactions & Other

  • Because Kayle is both a Melee role.png melee and Ranged role.png ranged champion, she can purchase both ranged and melee exclusive items at anytime, but their effects will function depending on her current range type; the same principle also applies to runes.
  • Waves are fired in the direction that Kayle is facing. Changing that during the early animation via Flash Flash will also change the direction of the wave.

Active: Kayle conjures a portal in front of her that faces the target direction. After a 0.25 second delay, a celestial sword launches forward from it.

The sword explodes in a cross-like shape upon colliding with an enemy. Targets struck are dealt magic damage, Slow icon.png slowed for 2 seconds, and have their Armor penetration icon.png armor and Magic penetration icon.png magic resistance reduced by 15% for 4 seconds.

Projectile Details

  • The portal is created at the start of the cast time and it does not follow Kayle's movement, using Flash Flash or getting displaced won't change its position nor direction.
  • The explosion consist of 5 hitboxes, forming a cross-like shape centered 100 units ahead from the impact in the target direction. Their technical data can be seen below and visualized on the image to the right.

    The left side shows projectile's width and the total area traveled if it does not hit a target, while the right side shows the explosions when it hits a target.

    • ExplosionCenter: 100 radius
    • ExplosionLeft: 150 distance, 125 width
    • ExplosionRight: 150 distance, 125 width
    • ExplosionBackward: 100 distance, 90 width
    • ExplosionForward: 400 distance, 90 width

Interactions & Other

  • The visual effects of the explosion shows the blade and guard of a sword.
  • Since patch V9.17, the cast time matches the cast delay. The ability before had a 0.5 second cast delay and the cast time matched Kayle's basic attack timer.
  • The resistance reduction is a debuff called Radiant Blast 2.png Sundered.
    • The shred's VFX only lasts for 3 seconds.

Details

  • The ability consist of 3 different damage source types:
    • The basic attack part is Basic Attack.png basic.
    • The passive's on-hit magic damage is Wit's End item.png proc.
    • The active's magic damage based on the missing health of the target(s) applies Disintegrate.png spell.
    • The damage against secondary targets caught in the explosion is also tagged as area of effect.
  • The basic attack portion of the ability is a normal basic attack, just in area of effect after the upgrade, and is affected by Critical strike icon.png critical strike modifiers.
    • Plated Steelcaps Plated Steelcaps reduces the incoming damage from the explosion.
    • Keep in mind that on-attack effects only applied once per basic attack, not per target hit.
  • Parry interactions:
    • Blind icon.png Blind: The main target will never receive damage but secondary targets struck in the explosion will receive the bonus magic damage based on their missing health.
    • Counter Strike.png Dodge: Dodging will always negate all damage.
    • Spirit's Refuge.png Block: Blocking will always negate all damage.
      • Even if the main target is inside Spirit's Refuge's Spirit's Refuge's zone, targets struck in the explosion outside of the area won't block the damage.

Interactions & Other

  • While the effect is active a circle is visible to Kayle, indicating her Range icon.png range, however, this circle only takes into account Divine Ascent's Divine Ascent's effect on her range, not other sources such as Rapid Firecannon Rapid Firecannon.
    • The increased range will be Range icon.png 675 prior to ascending to Transcendent, after which it's Range icon.png 725.
  • Single-use on-hits (Such as Spellblade) will be applied to the main target.
    • If the main target died prior to the projectile reaching them, or if it was a jungle plant, the effects will be applied to the closest target from the explosion's center.
    • Exception: Guinsoo's Rageblade's Guinsoo's Rageblade's Phantom Hit can only be applied to the main target.
  • Because Starfire Spellblade has both basic attack and ability components, it will proc Muramana's Muramana's Shock twice.
    • The double proc only occurs if the missing health based magic damage deals more than 0 damage.
    • Only the main target can receive double proc, other targets caught by the explosion do not.
  • Basic attacks empowered by Starfire Spellblade have increased "melee range" (Range icon.png 200), not utilizing projectiles below.
  • Starfire Spellblade can behave both as a Ranged role.png ranged and Melee role.png melee attack based on how far the target is prior to Kayle ascending to Arisen, after which the attack will be always using ranged standards.
    • If the target is Range icon.png 200 units away or closer, the attack will be considered melee.
    • If the target is over Range icon.png 200 units, the attack will be considered ranged.

Upon completing the cast time, the swords rain down, dealing magic damage in the highlighted area.

Details

  • Divine Judgment's cast time does not interrupt movement.
    • The cast time will finish even after Kayle's death.
    • The target may still die via Nexus Obelisk.png Nexus Obelisk, but the effect will still occur at their corpse's position after the same delay.
  • The highlighted area is fixed around the target.
  • Prior to becoming Transcended, casting Divine Judgment refreshes the duration of Zealous Zealous stacks.
  • Kayle's basic attack range is set to Range icon.png 400 during Divine Judgment's cast time to bring her within the effective range of the ability if attack commands are issued on an enemy.
  • The area around the target does not appear if the target is not Sight icon.png visible to the enemies' point of view.
  • While the target is Cosmic Radiance.png invulnerable, a number indicator will appear beneath them whenever they would receive damage to show the amount that was entirely mitigated. This is calculated pre-mitigation, or before resistances and reductions are taken into account.

Interactions & Other

  • Rapid Firecannon's Rapid Firecannon's Energized behaves strangely with the set basic attack range, causing it to jump in value within a short period.
    • Before Transcended: When the cast starts, the range changes from Range icon.png 400 to Range icon.png 337, then after the cast end, it changes from Range icon.png 612 to Range icon.png 675 (actual attack range while Energized).
    • After Transcended: The values are the same after the cast starts, but changes after the cast end, going from Range icon.png 662 to Range icon.png 725 range (attack range while Energized and Transcended).
    • Gaining Energized during the cast time will cause the range to jump between values, averaged around Range icon.png 540.
  • The Cosmic Radiance.png invulnerability is granted via a buff called Divine Judgment.png Intervention.
