It was my faithful hound, Rigby, who first alerted me. I heard it a moment later; a gentle chiming on the wind, accompanied by faint, childish laughter. Fearing the mage sorcery, I scouted the area but found nothing but strange spirals carved into trees, and a stack of carefully balanced stones, piled one atop the other. A shadow of movement made me turn, and immediately there was laughter right behind me.
Swinging back, I came face to face with a tiny, furred creature. He was sitting cross-legged atop the pile of stones, eating some bread and cheese. I swear he had not been there a moment earlier.
Hearing the approach of other rangers, I glanced briefly away. When I looked back, the tiny creature was gone.
Only later did I realize my rations were missing, and in their place a tiny note in a scratchy hand had been let.
All it said was: "Thanks for the food — Sageblossom".
