The Golden Age of the Shuriman Empire is a vast timespan in which the Shurima Crest icon Shuriman Empire was the biggest growing power on Runeterra. It covers the events of the construction of The Sun Disc, the Rise of the God-Warriors and the annexation of Void Crest icon Icathia.

5000 BN — The Rise of the God-Warriors

Guided by the divine Aspects of Targon Crest icon Targon in preparation for some unknown future war, the ancient Shurimans used the Sun Disc at Nerimazeth to create the first Ascended. These noble beings were worshipped as living gods, and the empire they forged would endure for millennia. [1]

History[]

The ancient Shurimans use the Sun Disc at Nerimazeth to create the first Ascended as instructed by the Aspects. The Warrior Queen of the Ascended, Setaka, becomes one of the very first Ascended and wields the Chalicar Chalicar, a weapon brought from beyond the mountain and raised aloft at Shurima's birth.

After a failed Ascension and the destruction of the Sun Disc in Nerimazeth, the Shurimans built a bigger Sun Disc in the current Shuriman capital, likely with the help of Ixtal Crest icon Ixtali mages. After its construction, the Oasis of the Dawn appeared inside the structure. Its life-giving water poured into the surrounding area, giving life to the desert. Later on, the Oasis would form the Mother of Life River system.

Shurima Shurima established its first Shuriman Emperor; and so the Shurima Crest icon Shuriman Empire was founded.[2] The Empire would end up absorbing a great deal of nations and cities as vassal states; including Ixtal Crest icon Ixtal and Unknown Faction 3 icon Oshra Va'Zaun.

Despite Void Crest icon Icathia's mage king Axamuk's calls for peaceful coexistence, Icathia is subjugated by the Shuriman Empire and their Ascended. Axamuk is killed and his guard, the Kohari Order, threw themselves on their blades for their defiance against the empire and failing to protect their mage king. At the same time, Shurima would begin abolishing all worship of deities other than the Ascended, marking them as 'false idols,' such as the case of Jan'ahrem Jan'ahrem in Unknown Faction 3 icon Oshra Va'Zaun.

Renekton Renekton earns the title "Gatekeeper of Shurima" after fighting an invading force from the south coast, striking toward the isolated city of Old Zuretta. Outnumbered ten to one, Renekton and a small contingent faced these aggressors to buy time for the evacuation. He held the pass long enough for a relief force led by his older brother Nasus Nasus to arrive. With barely a handful of warriors left standing, Renekton Renekton was hailed a hero for his feats.

The Void Crest icon Icathian council submitted countless petitions to the Shuriman emperor, hoping for some of its most notable citizens to be chosen for Ascension and thus gaining a say in the empire. Hostilities towards Shurima grew after each submission was denied without explanation. Seeking a diplomatic solution, Zilean Zilean went as an envoy to neighboring Kahleek, Kalduga, and Ixtal Crest icon Ixtal, trying to gather potential allies for Icathia's independence movement. Unfortunately, all of them turned him down for fear of defying Shurima Crest icon Shurima and its Ascended.
