Brackern[]

Surrounded around the Shuriman Continent are several clans of Brackern, including clans in the Shuriman desert.

Dormun[]

The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.

Eka'Sul[]

Desert goats that travel in herds.

Mwatis[]

Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.

Kmiros[]

Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for Rammus Rammus.

Outerbeasts[]

Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.

  • Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger. Rek'Sai Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.

Ralsiji[]

Large and aggressive minotaur-like creatures. They are humpbacked quadrupeds with long limbs and thick horns.

Shuriman Camel[]

A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.

Sandswimmers[]

Shurima Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.

Skallashi[]

The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.

Rage Gene

Rage Gene

Innate - Rage Gene: Mini Gnar Mini Gnar generates 4 / 7 / 11 (based on level) Rage Rage over 2 seconds upon dealing or receiving damage. Against non-champions, basic attacks and Boomerang Throw Boomerang Throw instantly generate「 0.5 / 0.875 / 1.375 (based on level) Rage. 」「 12.5% of the amount. 」 Against champions, Boomerang Throw Boomerang Throw instantly generates「 1 / 1.75 / 2.75 (based on level) Rage, 」「 25% of the amount, 」and basic attacks instantly generate「 2 / 3.5 / 5.5 (based on level). 」「 50% of the amount. 」Boomerang Throw Boomerang Throw can only generate Rage once per cast, and grants Rage based on the first enemy hit. Gnar's Rage decays after being out of combat for 13 seconds.

Rage Gene 2

At maximum Rage, Gnar's abilities are switched to Mega Gnar's Mega Gnar's abilities for 4 seconds. Casting one of Mega Gnar's abilities will cause him to transform into Mega Gnar Mega Gnar, else he will transform automatically after the 4 seconds have elapsed.

Gnar's Mega Mega form lasts for 15 seconds, with his Rage bar depleting as an indication of remaining time. Rage cannot be generated while in this form. Afterwards, Gnar returns to Mini Gnar Mini Gnar, retaining his Health icon Champions killed with Comeuppance (R)current percentage health and becoming too Rage Gene 4 tired to generate Rage for 15 seconds.

Gnar gains different stat bonuses based on whether he is in Mini Mini or Mega Mega form. Both of Gnar's forms share their ability cooldowns.

Info
  • The Rage generated upon dealing or receiving damage occurs over 2 seconds with 4 ticks every 0.5 seconds. It also does not stack but instead refreshes with subsequent applications (of dealing or receiving damage).
  • The bonus rage generation on basic attacks counts as an On-hit icon on-hit effect, and is triggered by Runaan's Hurricane Runaan's Hurricane and Guinsoo's Rageblade Guinsoo's Rageblade.
  • In-game, the value on the Rage bar always displays rounded down to the nearest integer.
  • Mega Gnar's Mega Gnar's gained health is not affected by healing modifiers such as Grievous Wounds icon Grievous Wounds and those from items and runes.
  • When returning to Mini Gnar Mini Gnar, Gnar will only retain his current health percentage, not current health total.
    • This is intentional to prevent Gnar from simply triggering Rage Gene Rage Gene in order to heal himself over time.
  • Gnar's abilities share Cooldown icon cooldowns across forms.
  • The final stats, after Rage Gene Rage Gene being applied, can be seen on Mini Gnar's and Mega Gnar's respective data template, in the front page.
    • Mini Gnar gains Damage mitigated by Master-At-Arms (R)5.5% − 99% (based on level) Champions hit with Martial Cadence (P)bonus attack speed.

Boomerang Throw

Boomerang Throw

Active: Gnar throws a boomerang in a line in the target direction that deals Champions killed from outside standard Attack rangephysical damage to enemies in its path and Slow icon slows them for 2 seconds.

After reaching its maximum range or hitting an enemy, the boomerang flies back toward Gnar based on his current movement, dealing 50% damage to subsequent targets.

Physical Damage:
5 / 45 / 85 / 125 / 165 Champions stunned with Pyromania (P)(+ 125% AD)
Reduced Damage:
2.5 / 22.5 / 42.5 / 62.5 / 82.5 Champions stunned with Pyromania (P)(+ 62.5% AD)
Slow:
15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35%

Catching the boomerang while it is returning back refunds 40% of the ability's Cooldown icon total cooldown.

Enemies can be hit only once per pass.

Info
  • The boomerang return direction is determined at the apex of its flight by Gnar's current position and which direction Gnar is heading at the time.
  • Since the cooldown between the two is shared, Mini Gnar may pick up a boulder and/or Mega Gnar may catch a boomerang.
  • This ability will cast from wherever the caster is at the start of the cast time.

Hyper

Hyper 2

Passive: Gnar's basic attacks On-hit icon on-hit and ability hits apply a stack of Hyper to enemies for 3.5 seconds, refreshing on subsequent applications and stacking up to 3 times.

Hyper

The third stack against a target consumes them all to deal Damage mitigated with Shifting Sands (E)bonus magic damage, capped at 300 against Monster icon monsters, and grant Gnar 20 / 40 / 60 / 80% (based on GNAR! GNAR!'s rank) Movement speed icon Champions killed 5s before or after using Chronobreak (R)bonus movement speed that decays over 3 seconds.

Gnar gains Hyper's Movement speed icon Champions killed 5s before or after using Chronobreak (R)bonus movement speed when he leaves Mega Mega form.

Info
  • The bonus movement speed's duration refreshes whenever Gnar would receive it (by hitting a target three times again).

Hop

Hop

Active: Gnar Dash leaps to the target location, then gains Attack damage icon Champions hit with Martial Cadence (P)bonus attack speed for 6 seconds.

Bonus Attack Speed:
40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60%

If Gnar lands on a unit he will Dash bounce 500 units further in the same direction.

Landing on an enemy deals them Champions killed from outside standard Attack rangephysical damage and Slow icon slows them by 80% for 0.5 seconds.

Physical Damage:
50 / 85 / 120 / 155 / 190 Champions killed with Comeuppance (R)(+ 6% maximum health)

Gnar will not bounce if he is Stun icon immobilized, excluding from Sleep icon sleep(bug), during the first leap.

Boomerang Throw Boomerang Throw can be cast during the dash. Hop will cast at max range if cast beyond that.

Info
  • Hop does not allow Gnar to bounce off wards.
  • Hop does not grant bonus attack speed if used to transform.
  • If Hop generates Rage to maximum and Gnar bounces off an enemy, he may cast GNAR! GNAR! during the bounce.

Gnar is an excitable yordle whose playful antics can erupt into a toddler’s outrage in an instant, transforming him into a massive beast bent on destruction. Frozen in True Ice for millennia, the curious creature broke free and now hops about a changed world he sees as exotic and wondrous. Delighted by danger, Gnar flings whatever he can at his enemies, be it his bonetooth boomerang… or an uprooted tree.

    Trivia[]

    • Gnar, Elise Elise, Nidalee Nidalee, Jayce Jayce, Kayle Kayle, and Samira Samira are the only champions to be conditionally considered both Ranged role ranged and Melee role melee.
    • Gnar's concept is built on monstrous transformations in fiction coupled with the Fish Out of Water trope.
    • In Brazilian localization, Gnar's title was changed to O Yordle Pré-histórico ('the Prehistoric Yordle') in order to avoid matchmaking-rating-associated jokes/bullying derived from O Elo Perdido ('the Missing Link').
    • Gnar is the second champion to have two champion portraits (Mini Gnar Mini Gnar and Mega Gnar Mega Gnar) the first being Quinn Quinn and Valor Valor.
    • Mini Gnar has the fewest active abilities of any ranged champion (Hyper Hyper and GNAR! GNAR! are fully passive effects) and the lowest health at Level 18 (1645).
    • Mega Gnar has his own separate emotes from Mini Gnar's.
    • Mega Gnar has the highest Champions killed with Trueshot Barrage (R)Experience icon level 18 Champions hit with Bandage Toss (Q) at greater than 75% of max rangeAttack damage icon base attack damage (157).
    • Although patch V7.16 made it so the portrait of the selected skin would be used in the central portion of the in-game UI, transforming into Mega Gnar Mega Gnar always uses his base portrait for all skins.
    • Hop Hop has the shortest ability name at 3 characters long.
