Innate: Garen passively regenerates「 Health icon 0.2 / 0.8% maximum health every half-second 」「 Health icon 2 / 8% maximum health every 5 seconds 」and is doubled to「 Health icon 0.4 / 1.6% maximum health every half-second 」「 Health icon 4 / 16% maximum health every 5 seconds 」while below Health icon 25 / 50% of his maximum health.

This regeneration is interrupted for 9 / 4 seconds if he takes non-minion damage or if he is hit by an enemy ability.

At level 11, damage from non-epic monsters will no longer stop Perseverance.

Decisive Strike
Decisive Strike

Active: Garen cleanses himself of all Slow icon slows affecting him and gains Movement speed icon 30% bonus movement speed for a few seconds.

Additionally, his next basic attack within 4.5 seconds deals Attack damage bonus physical damage, and Silence icon silences his target for 1.5 seconds.

Decisive Strike resets Garen's autoattack timer.

Ability Details
  • Decisive Strike has no cast time and does not interrupt Garen's previous orders.
    • The on-hit effect and the bonus movement speed are independent (Garen can silence his target and the bonus movement speed will remain, duration permitting).
  • The enhanced attack will apply other on-hit effects and can Critical strike icon critically strike as normal.
  • As with most on-hit physical damage, Decisive Strike's bonus damage will apply Life steal icon life steal.
  • Decisive Strike will also remove Cripple icon cripple in case it is inextricably linked with Slow icon slow within the ability used against Garen.
  • Decisive Strike will remove Slow icon slow from Exhaust Exhaust, but not the damage reduction, for it being two separate effects within one summoner spell.
  • Decisive Strike does not protect Garen from re-application of Slow icon slows on him.
  • Both Statikk Shiv item Statikk Shiv and Rapid Firecannon item Rapid Firecannon have weird interactions with Garen's Decisive Strike.
    • Statikk Shiv item Statikk Shiv procs in the middle of Garen's Decisive Strike animation and will never crit, even if at 100% crit or using Stormrazor item Stormrazor.
    • Rapid Firecannon item Rapid Firecannon's bonus range is not applied to Garen's Decisive Strike and the damage procs before the animation starts.

Passive: Garen permanently gains Armor icon 0.25 bonus armor and Magic resistance icon 0.25 bonus magic resistance every time he kills an enemy unit, up to a maximum of 40 bonus resistances at 160 unit kills.

Active: Garen reduces incoming physical and magic damage by 60% and has 60% Tenacity icon Tenacity for the first 0.75 seconds. For the rest of the duration Garen reduces incoming physical and magic damage by 30%.

Ability Details
  • Courage has no cast time and does not interrupt Garen's previous orders.
  • Courage's bonus resistances are only gained when it is ranked up at least once, but Courage's passive is retroactive.
  • Any enemy unit counts towards Courage's bonus resistances: champions, minions, monsters (including epic ones), summoned units and turrets. The bonus is equal in all these cases.
  • Courage will only grant bonus resistances from units killed by Garen himself. Eye of the Herald item Eye of the Herald and Zz'Rot Portal item Zz'Rot Portal do not count.
  • Courage's active does not reduce true damage.


Active: Garen rapidly spins his sword around his body 「 5 − 10 (based on level) times 」「 every 0.6 − 0.3 (based on level) seconds 」 for 3 seconds, dealing physical damage with each spin to nearby enemies.

While spinning, Garen cannot basic attack and is Ghost ghosted.

Judgment deals 33% bonus damage when hitting a single target and can Critical strike icon critically strike for 50% (+ Infinity Edge item 25%) (+ The Thinking Manatee profileicon 25%) bonus damage.

Enemy champions hit 4 times have their armor reduced by 25% for 6 seconds. Hits after the 4th refresh the duration of the debuff.

Judgment 2

After 1 second, Garen can reactivate to cancel it immediately, reducing its cooldown by its remaining duration.

Ability Details
  • Judgment is not a channeled ability, so crowd control effects will not interrupt it.
    • Silencing Garen will prevent him from deactivating the ability early.
  • Garen will benefit from Decisive Strike Decisive Strike's slow removal and bonus movement speed while Judgment is active.
  • Judgment cancels Garen's last movement command upon ending.
    • He will not be able to apply its on-hit silence or bonus damage since he cannot basic attack over Judgment's duration.
  • Garen may cast Demacian Justice Demacian Justice while Judgment is active but it will stop ticking if so.
  • Each spin deals damage simultaneously to all enemies within its range when the spin is completed.

Passive: The enemy with the most kills in the last 5 minutes is marked as the Villain. The mark cannot be assigned to another champion while Garen is in combat with the Villain. If more than one enemy has the same bounty, the enemy who received it first is marked the Villain.

Garen's basic attacks and each spin of Judgment Judgment against the Villain deal 1% of their maximum health as Hybrid penetration bonus true damage on-hit.

Active: Garen calls upon the might of Demacia to attempt to execute the target enemy champion, dealing them Ability power magic damage, converted to true damage when targeting the Villain.

175 / 350 / 525 (+ 28.6 / 33.3 / 40% of target's missing health)

  • The tooltip displays damage values as simple digits rather than percentages (deals 1 additional damage per 3.5 / 3 / 2.5 target's missing health).
  • Kills against Garen will not be considered when determining the Villain.
  • Villains that can be executed by this spell, will have their Villain icon highlighted.
  • The ability will not complete and will not go on cooldown if the target moves out of Garen's vision or it becomes Playful untargetable.

Twisted Treeline and Howling Abyss
  • Courage Courage
    • Bonus resistances on-kill increased to 0.5 from 0.25.
      • Number of enemy kills needed to reach the maximum amount reduced to 80 from 160.
