Brackern[]

Surrounded around the Shuriman Continent are several clans of Brackern, including clans in the Shuriman desert.

Dormun[]

The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.

Eka'Sul[]

Desert goats that travel in herds.

Mwatis[]

Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.

Kmiros[]

Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for Rammus Rammus.

Outerbeasts[]

Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.

  • Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger. Rek'Sai Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.

Ralsiji[]

Large and aggressive minotaur-like creatures. They are humpbacked quadrupeds with long limbs and thick horns.

Shuriman Camel[]

A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.

Sandswimmers[]

Shurima Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.

Skallashi[]

The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.

Fizz Fizz is an amphibious yordle, who dwells among the reefs surrounding Bilgewater. He often retrieves and returns the tithes cast into the sea by superstitious captains, but even the saltiest of sailors know better than to cross him—for many are the tales of those who have underestimated this slippery character. Often mistaken for some manner of capricious ocean spirit, he seems able to command the beasts of the deep, and delights in confounding his allies and enemies alike.

Background[]

Early life[]

In ages past, the oceans of Runeterra were home to civilizations far older than those of the land. In the depths of what is now the Guardian’s Sea, a great city once stood—it was here that the yordle Fizz made his home. He lived alongside the artisans and warriors of that proud, noble race. Even though he was not one of them, they treated him as an equal, and his playful nature and tall tales of adventures in the open sea made him welcome at any gathering.

But the world was changing. The oceans were growing warmer, emboldening fierce predators to rise up from the deepest trenches. Other settlements had fallen silent, but the rulers of the great city could still not agree on how to deal with the threat. Fizz pledged to roam the seas in search of survivors, or anyone who knew what had happened.

Then, one dark day, the gigalodons came.

These huge dragon-sharks stunned their prey with fell shrieking, and the avenues of the great city were soon clouded red. Thousands died in a matter of hours, the immense bulk of their killers crushing towers and temples in a monstrous feeding frenzy. Scenting blood in the water, Fizz raced back, determined to join the fight and save the city.

He was too late. There was nothing left of the city to save. When the debris finally settled, not a single living creature remained, nor any stone upon another, and the ravenous shoal had moved on. Alone in the cold depths, Fizz sank into mournful despair. As his yordle magic began to fade, he let himself be carried by the currents, drifting in a catatonic torpor, dreaming away the millennia…

It was only chance that reawakened him. A handful of copper coins fell from above, scattered to the seabed in the wake of a huge, wooden fish that swam upon the surface. This was no gigalodon, but Fizz was alarmed nonetheless—he knew little of the world overhead, but surely no fish could survive up there? He ventured up and peered into the salty air for the first time.

There were people, people who lived outside of the water and sailed in wooden fish of all sizes. Fizz found the thought both frightening and exciting, but the curious gifts they cast into the water made it clear that they wanted to be his friends. In time, following their movements to and fro across the oceans, he came to the port city of Bilgewater.

Becoming a Legend[]

To the inhabitants of that lawless place, this strange and slippery creature quickly became something of a legend—the Tidal Trickster, a spirit of the ocean itself. It is said that he can summon great beasts to do his bidding, hole a ship’s hull with his stone trident, and breathe air or water as it suits him. Many a misbehaving child has been warned on a moonless night: “Go quickly to sleep, or the Trickster will come and feed you to the fishes…”

Appearance[]

Unlike many of his Yordle brethren, Fizz's appearance lacks any fur. Instead, he exhibits more amphibian characteristics, with tentacles resembling dreadlocks growing out of his head. Gills on the side of his torso allow him to breathe underwater, and he possesses wider arms and legs than other Yordles, featuring 3-digit hands and feet with webbing that allows for faster movement underwater. His light blue skin transitions into darker hues towards his lower body, adorned with white spots, notably on his stomach.

While Fizz's distinctive appearance is likely a result of his environment, it remains unclear why there aren't more Yordles who share his likeness. Notably, as the oldest known Yordle, predating even Gnar Gnar, Fizz maintains a form reminiscent of a "pre-continental" era, which diverges from the more common furry appearance observed in his Yordle peers.

Personality[]

In the beginning, Fizz was a proud and headstrong warrior of a ancient aquatic civilization. Like most Yordles, Fizz was greatly attached to his civilization of choice, and dedicated his life to protect it, training to become a powerful warrior against terrible foes.

When that aquatic civilization was destroyed anyway, the trauma made Fizz sank in a despair so big that he hibernated, were he remained for centuries.

After waking up from his coma in Bilgewater. Fizz personality changed greatly. He became the trickster of Bilgewater, a strange and mercurial creature of the seas. Thought generally good natured, Fizz pranks often lead to chaos and destruction, such as the sinking of ships and massive amounts of casualties. In spite of this, Fizz often tends to help the good natured and punish those that try to abuse the oceans.

Abilities[]

  • Yordle Physiology: Fizz is a Yordle, a being coming from the Spirit Realm and possesses several abilities natural of his species.
    • Immortality: Being spiritual beings, Yordles don't age the same way as normal humans, and they can't normally die.
    • Yordle Magic: Just like any Yordle, Fizz is capable of performing yordle magic, which he utilizes in tandem with his skills as a trickster.
  • Amphibious Physiology: Fizz seems to be the only Yordle that's amphibious. He can breathe both air and water without issue, swim at great speeds, and survive the intense pressures of the ocean.
    • Sea Animal Communication: Fizz can communicate with aquatic beings.
  • Water Magic: Fizz is a powerful water mage, having a deep connection to the element thanks to his nature. He control the seas with playful ease, sinking entire ships without problem. He can summon water from nothing, and use it to fight his foes.
    • Water Teleportation: Fizz can use water to create portals to other places. He can use that as method of travel, or to summon sea animals to his aid, mainly his shark 4 Longtooth.
  • Skilled Fighter: Fizz is a talented fighter, being able to use his trident to bring down enemies much bigger than him.
  • Seastone Trident: A magical trident created by Ornn Ornn that came to fall in Fizz possession. How that exactly transpired is unknown; all that is known is that Ornn threw his fork away, with it landing in the sea.[1]

Relations[]

Creatures of the Shallow Sea[]

Fizz is friend with many creatures of the shallow sea surrounding Serpent Isles such as 1 Shellshocker, 2 Coral Creatures, 3 Bubble Bear, 4 Zap Sprayfin and 4 Longtooth.

Nautilus Nautilus[]

Nautilus Nautilus hates Fizz and would like to see him dead, though Fizz may not be fully aware of that fact.
