The 
Firelights are a rebel sumpsnipe street gang that are based in 
Zaun and led by 
Ekko. They also serve as the last remaining resistance in the undercity against 
Silco's criminal empire.
Lore[]
The Firelights were founded by Ekko at an unknown point in time after 
Vander's death in order to overthrow Silco and eliminate shimmer from the undercity altogether. Many of the gang's members were either former shimmer addicts or victims of the drug's devastating impact on the Zaunite population.
Due to their relatively small numbers, the Firelights practice guerilla warfare and employ hit-and-run tactics in battle. They also wear white 
Ionian masks to conceal their identities and fly on green hoverboards that are heavily implied to have been designed by Ekko. The Firelights also wield a multitude of different weapons in combat, including basic ones such as spears, clubs, and axes, and more advanced ones such as smoke grenades and crystal bombs, both of which are also implied to be Ekko's creations.
Although the gang was originally formed to fight against Silco and his goons, the Firelights harbor a great deal of hatred towards 
Piltovans, 
enforcers in particular. This animosity mainly stems from the fact that many of the enforcers that hunt and kill the Firelights, including their leader 
Marcus, are on Silco's payroll.
The gang is inclusive and does not discriminate by race or background, as displayed by how Scar, Ekko's second-in-command, is a Chirean.

Vi and Caitlyn were both captured by the Firelights and imprisoned at their hideout until Ekko determined that they were all on the same side.- Heimerdinger befriended Ekko during his first trip to Zaun and decided to live with the Firelights for an extended period of time to offer them his help.

Firelight Hideout[]
The Firelight hideout is built inside a massive, abandoned sewer located somewhere in Zaun that has a large hole on top, which allows heaps of natural sunlight to pass through and illuminate the area. Its most prominent feature is the enormous tree situated at the center of the hideout, which was able to thrive and grow to its current size due to its daily exposure to sunlight. A number of small houses are also built on the tree, including Ekko's home, and around it. The walls surrounding the hideout are also decorated with graffiti and numerous murals.
- Entrance: The entrance to the hideout is only accessible through the maze-like sewer system of Zaun. Many Firelight bugs live near the entrance and inside the hideout itself, which inspired the gang's name.
- The Lost Children of Zaun Mural: The Firelight memorial is located at the base of the tree. It serves as a commemoration to all the Zaunites who have lost their lives in the war with Silco and also as a reminder that the hope for a better future is worth fighting for.[1] The old possessions of the people painted on the mural are propped up against the bottom of the tree, and the faces of Vi, Powder, Mylo, Claggor, Vander, Benzo, and Eve can all be seen painted on the memorial.

The Firelights function as a gang, with Ekko as their boss. Despite this, however, each individual member is respected equally and contributes in their own way to build and protect their small community.

Trivia[]
- Although there are references to the existence of the Firelights in Ekko's official lore, the gang was not officially introduced until Episode 4 of Arcane's 1st season.
- There are several story inconsistencies between Arcane's depiction of Ekko and the version of his character that is seen in his Runeterra Prime Universe short stories.
- In Universe, Ekko is mentioned to have a small group of friends that go around Zaun causing mischief. This is also reaffirmed in his Legends of Runeterra cards and is a possible reference to the Firelights.

- Strangely enough, the Gilded skinline shows that Ekko and some of his gang members are citizens of Piltover, despite the fact that he is clearly from Zaun.
- Other than Scar, the second-in-command of the Firelights, Chireans have been seen around Ekko as shown in Legends of Runeterra card art and interactions. It has yet to be made clear if chireans are a vastayan tribe or if the two species just share similar appearances.
