Skill usage
* Duelist regeneration effect stacks up against champions, so don't be afraid to engage in small skirmishes.

* Lunge is a mechanically simple skill, but it has a lot of nuances to its usage.

** Lunge is often underestimated for its damage, especially at early levels of the game. A quick double click on the same champion works as a decent nuke.

** Remember that, while most of Fiora's damage comes from standard attacks or modified standard attacks, Lunge is an ability, so it can pierce through statuses like blind and Counter Strike to deal damage.

** To maximise damage output, apply as many autoattacks as you can before using the second Lunge.

*** Activate Burst of Speed before using Lunge for best results; the extra movement speed will gain a stack from Lunge, allowing you to continue attacking the target, and finally use the second Lunge to further damage the enemy.

** Make good use of Lunge's second cast to stick to your target; if the enemy has their own mobility or escaping skills, try to force them to use it prior to your second Lunge cast.

** If you're chasing an enemy champion that's too far use Lunge on a enemy minion and use its second dash to catch up.

* Try to use Riposte when the enemy is already in half-swing or when their ranged basic attack is in mid flight.

** Riposte can be also used to counter a variety of abilities, such as Mystic Shot, Parrrley, and Siphoning Strike.

** Against melee champions Riposte is much harder to successfully parry an attack with, due to the near-instant attack time. Unless your opponent is predictable, it may not be worth it to bait attacks hoping to apply the parry damage.

* Fiora skill order is not set in stone, and varying it depending on the game's situation can make you much more effective.

** Skilling Lunge makes it gain a decent amount of damage, but more importantly greatly reduces its cooldown. This can make all the difference in chasing opponents, especially those with mobility skills that could otherwise evade and kite Fiora.

** Riposte improves Fiora offense while providing a situational defensive move. Parrying attacks constantly, especially enhanced attack abilities, can save your life. The passive AD bonus is also quite sizable and improves all your other abilities' effectiveness to a small degree.

** Burst of Speed becomes an incredibly potent steroid when maxed out, and most champions will be unable to keep up with Fiora sustained damage while it is active. However, it is easily countered by saving crowd control abilities until after it is activated.

* Burst of Speed gives a huge attack speed boost so it can be used to effectively push turrets.

* Blade Waltz not only deals damage, but also prevents targeting from enemy abilities.

* Blade Waltz makes you untargetable for the duration of the ability and also removes turret aggro from Fiora, so it can be used to finish off low health enemies hiding under their turret.

* Blade Waltz basically counts as 5 separate basic attacks. Hence, it will proc all on-hit effects and be affected by any other autoattack modifiers (except for attack speed buffs/debuffs and crits), including the summoner spell Exhaust. However, all proc on-hit effects will stack after the first attack, granting only 4 procs (the first hit starts at 0, the second at 1, and so on, etc.)

* If you are caught at low health and have strong lifesteal use Blade Waltz , dealing massive damage and restoring a large portion of hitpoints after it.Needless to said that you are protected from damage for the duration

StrategyHeader
*Madred's Bloodrazor works well with her kit, because it gives her enough attack speed to almost hit the 2.5 cap while Burst of Speed is going, while also procing with Blade Waltz- against a single opponent it will proc 5 times, doing 20% of the targets max health, plus the flat 320/672/1000 damage from Blade Waltz.

**However, Madred's Bloodrazor is very costly and somewhat situational (against high HP targets).

*Ionic Spark, similarly, will increase her attack speed and will proc at least once during Blade Waltz, which, against four enemy champions, will increase the damage dealt to each by 110.

*Wit's End is also useful as it will proc on all hits of her ultimate Blade Waltz. Along with the magic resistance and AS that it provides, the item is very useful on Fiora, especially if the opponent team is AP heavy or if an AP heavy champ constantly focuses you.

*Furthermore, The Black Cleaver will reduce armor on every hit of her ultimate Blade Waltz and therefore increasing the damage dealt. In teamfights where your Blade Waltz can hit multiple targets, the armor reduction will be very helpful. In a 1v1 case, the armor reduction will greatly increase your already impressive damage from Blade Waltz.

*Building lifesteal is very important for Fiora as it allows her to regenerate large quantities of health while she is untargettable during Blade Waltz.

*Unlike many other attack damage carries, Phantom Dancer can be built but isn't necessary on Fiora because she already gets a huge attack speed boost and a movement speed boost from Burst of Speed.

*Crowd control directly counters Fiora's usefulness, making Mercury's Treads, Cloak and Dagger, Quicksilver Sash or a Banshee's Veil good items to consider if you find yourself being CCd regularly.

*One can build her as a glass cannon carry with items like Phantom Dancer, The Bloodthirster, and Infinity Edge. Or, one can opt to build her as a more tanky dps type with proc effects using items like Frozen Mallet, Wit's End and Madred's Bloodrazor.

*Fiora can be built in a "critless" manner as well due to her high AS. Items like The Bloodthirster, The Black Cleaver, and Wit's End can be used to increase her damage output in such a build. It should be noted that Youmuu's Ghostblade active is very useful in this type of a build. This type of a build along with items like Wriggle's Lantern and Frozen Mallet allow Fiora to be rather tanky.

*If one is running Armor Penetration runes, it's a good idea to get both The Black Cleaver and Youmuu's Ghostblade on her, since she can recieve the full stacks for the armor shred easily.

* Building a Tiamat will cause all of Fiora's standard attacks to deal splash damage, including Blade Waltz. In most games, a Tiamat will be a waste of gold and an item slot that you could have used on something else, and enemies will normally not be bunched up tightly enough to fully make use of the splash-damage passive but if your team has someone like Galio on it, who can keep the entire enemy team together for a few seconds, you can potentially multiply your damage output heavily with a Tiamat.

** Keep in mind, however, that the role of Fiora is normally to pick off low health and/or high priority targets, making Tiamat a questionable choie on her even with Idol of Durand on your team since Tiamat costs a fair bit of money for an item which doesn't tremendously augment your single-target damage, especially when Fiora's primary targets are often back-lines characters who won't be standing near enough to anything for Tiamat to deal any splash damage.

** In any case, one should NEVER build more than two Tiamat on any melee champion since, after buying two, all standard attacks will splash for 100% damage. Building more than two Tiamat will cause a champion to deal MORE damage to surrounding targets than they deal to the primary target of their attacks, which is rarely a useful situation unless you're smart enough to attack targets beside your target, dealing more damage to the intended target(s).

** Statistically speaking, if Fiora builds 4 Tiamat , boots and a fully stacked The Bloodthirster with full AD runes and every hit of her ultimate damages and procs Tiamat on the whole enemy team, her damage output by her ultimate to her selected target will be close to 7000 damage, the other 3 champs physically hit by her ultimate will take over 7500 damage and the champ that was not physically hit by it will take over 8000 damage from the Tiamat alone. This is because her Blade Waltz hits only 5 times and the first and last hit are applied to the same target so they will take 25% damage on the last hit, the other champs hit by the ult (3 champs) take 3 times the 200% of Tiamat damage and 50% Tiamat damage off the final hits. The champion left unhit by the ult itself will take 4 times the full 200% Tiamat damage and the 50% from the final hit. As every champion has armor and have an extremely low chance of ALL being in the Tiamat splash range, these numbers will be approximately 3-4 times of what could be expected in-game.

* Fiora is adept at dealing a lot of physical damage quickly, making armor a clear method of protecting yourself.

** In the top lane, Ninja Tabi is a highly effective way to become deceptively hard to kill to Fiora.

** Buying Thornmail is a very good option as Fiora relies heavily on basic attacks to cause damage and it would benefit almost every member of the opposing team and increase their survival chance.

* A crowd control effect applied on Fiora when she activates Burst of Speed will severely lower her damage output. In addition, if she is unable to autoattack or use Lunge during the 3 second duration, she will not gain bonus movement speed.

* Another good option is attack speed grinders such as Warden's Mail, Randuin's Omen and Frozen Heart , these all give an armor and attack speed debuff.

* Fiora is strongly countered by anti AD champions, such a Jax, Rammus and Malphite.

**Jax is a great 1v1 top lane counter due to his Counter Strike which can completely avoid Blade Waltz. As well as the bonus armor from Grandmaster's Might will reduce the damage from all of her other forms of offense.

**Rammus counters her with his anti-AD abilities such as Defensive Ball Curl, and his tendency to build up armor to stack with Spiked Shell.

**Malphite can take her on with his Brutal Strikes granting him incredible amounts of armor and Ground Slam reducing her attack speed considerably.

**In general, long range harass, zoning, and running go a long way to controlling a Fiora at the top lane, because she has no reliable short cooldown ranged attack.

;Playing As Fiora
  +
* Thanks to Duelist's Dance, Fiora excels at quick trades. Use the movement speed boost from striking a Duelist's Dance to escape unscathed or set up for the next one.
  +
* Grand Challenge allows Fiora to take down even the most durable opponents and then recover if successful, so do not hesitate to attack the enemy's front line.
  +
  +
;Playing Against Fiora
  +
* Duelist's Dance shows you where Fiora will try to attack from, so be ready to punish her when she tries.
  +
* Be careful when casting immobilizing disables on Fiora. If her Riposte is available, she can turn their power against you.
  +
  +
Tricks
  +
;Ability Usage
  +
* Riposte can be used mid-Lunge, allowing her to block the effects of and counter-stun usually instant immobilizes such as Flame Chompers!, and Steadfast Presence (though the latter is much more difficult).
  +
* Duelist's Dance will disappear if Fiora walks too far away from a champion, and they will not appear if Fiora cannot be seen by the enemy team. This is useful in many ways:
  +
**By moving far enough away, Fiora can force Duelist's Dance to appear in positions that are more favorable for her, and vice versa for her opponents.
  +
**When hiding in bushes, Duelist's Dance will begin to appear if the enemy team has vision of the bush. If they are approaching a bush and you see Vitals forming on them, they can see you.
  +
*For the purposes of Riposte, "immobilizing" effects mean any kind of effect that moves Fiora or prevents her from moving, no matter how brief the duration. Abilities like Apprehend, Tempered Fate, Vault, and Condemn count as immobilizing effects, and will cause Riposte to stun.
  +
* Bladework resets Fiora autoattack, which can allow her to push turrets quickly.
  +
* Riposte can break Duelist's Dance if the stab hits them, including the ones revealed by Grand Challenge.
  +
  +
;Rune Usage
  +
* Conqueror assists Fiora in lane trading and all-ins, and the Triumph rune helps in 1v1 scenarios when both Fiora and her enemy would have died.
  +
* Nimbus Cloak is a very strong rune in winning lanes, as it adds to the bonus movement speed granted by Grand Challenge. Along with Celerity, this combination will almost definitely secure the difference between a death and a kill (NOTE: Celerity grants bonus movement speed and bonus adaptive damage based on your bonus movement speed). Nimbus Cloak is not recommended in losing lanes, because Bone Plating and Chrysalis are much stronger in these scenarios.
  +
  +
;Item Usage
  +
* Fiora's most common build path is to stack pure AD, lifesteal, and cooldown reduction.
  +
** Lifesteal items are stacked on Fiora because she can already shred through tanky enemies with her passive. They also give more bonus AD than armor penetration items, which actually helps her deal more true damage. By building loads of lifesteal, Fiora gains more survivability, because enemies will have a harder time damaging Fiora because she can just sustain everything back. It also makes her even more difficult to outduel, and she is already a dueling monster.
  +
** Cooldown reduction is also needed because Fiora is quite reliant on her abilities to do damage and reposition herself.
  +
*** The Black Cleaver is a common item to buy on Fiora. It gives her 20% cooldown reduction, a decent amount of AD, HP, and has a passive that gives her even more movement speed, which helps her with kiting and sticking to enemies. Don't be fooled thinking that the armor shred is useless just because Fiora deals true damage. The majority of Fiora's damage is still physical, especially early in the game where she doesn't have a lot of bonus AD to make her true damage very relevant. Another perk is that The Black Cleaver is cheaper than Trinity Force.
  +
*Ravenous Hydra is a core item for Fiora. It gives her lifesteal and a lot of bonus AD. But more importantly, it gives her waveclear, which is incredibly important since one of the main weakness of Fiora's kit is lacking natural waveclear. Due to this reason, this item is often rushed, with Tiamat being one of Fiora's most common first buys.
  +
*Fiora's Lunge applies on-hit effects, meaning that items such as Tiamat's Cleave, Blade of the Ruined King, Sheen's Spellblade all proc.
  +
*While almost never a good buy, Hextech Gunblade heals off of Duelist's Dance's damage.
  +
*If building AD, any item that offers a mix of attack damage, lifesteal, and cooldown reduction is good for Fiora.
  +
**A prime example is Death's Dance. The passive will help Fiora survive the large bursts of damage that she will most likely attract when Riposte is on cooldown.
  +
**While Trinity Force is not commonly built, Fiora can make good use of all of its stats. Spellblade procs will almost always land with Lunge, the movement speed on hit helps her position to strike Duelist's Dance, and cooldown reduction is a welcome addition to her long cooldowns. The attack speed also helps her win fights when she might not otherwise be able to safely break Duelist's Dance.
  +
*If building tank Fiora, Titanic Hydra is a good alternative to Ravenous Hydra. However, keep in mind that Titanic Hydra does NOT grant Attack Damage based on health, and so Duelist's Dance will gain no benefit.
  +
  +
;Countering
  +
*Remember that Fiora is one of the few champions who can be built into multiple item paths. Itemize accordingly in order to counter her.
  +
**Her most common build path, however, is to stack items with lifesteal and cooldown reduction, with some tankyness. (see above for the reasons why)
  +
*** With that in mind, building Grievous Wounds items can help you heavily against Fiora. As an ADC, it is recommended to buy Mortal Reminder if you are facing Fiora late game. Morellonomicon is also a core item on many mages, that offer Grievous Wounds. There is also Thornmail for tanks (see below for more information).
  +
*Thornmail is once again a decent item to buy against Fiora. Bramble Vest cripples Fiora early because she is sustain reliant and auto reliant, so the Grievous Wounds passive actually allows you to have a chance against her. In the long run, however, Fiora is able to overcome this item, with massive amounts of lifesteal and armor shred. Thornmail will not help you against Fiora late game in a 1x1 situation, but it can help reducing her sustain during teamfights if she is forced to hit you.
  +
*Building some armor in the early game is actually useful against Fiora. She will not have enough true damage to shred you, as she is item reliant. In the long run, Fiora is able to shred through any enemy regardless of how tanky they are, but building tanky is still necessary for survivability purposes.
  +
*Bladework's second strike is always considered a critical strike. Buying a Randuin's Omen can cripple Bladework's second strike, though it is usually an inefficient use of gold for this purpose.
  +
*Fiora is always considered as a powerful late game hypercarry. Shutting her down early can cripple her apart since she has a weak early game.
  +
*It is difficult to itemize properly against Fiora if she builds Attack Damage, because of Duelist's Dance's damage. Try to stop her from snowballing out of control, or position intelligently so she cannot attack your Duelist's Dance.
  +
*Avoid using your high damage abilities like Death Mark or hard CC abilities like Counter Strike when Riposte is available. It blocks EVERYTHING; for example, if Fiora parries Chum the Waters, the fish will drop to the ground and will not attach itself to her if she walks over it. Likewise, Death Mark will not be applied, and even abilities like Blade's End will consume the stacks, but deal no damage.
  +
*Riposte has a long cooldown, especially at early ranks - after she uses it, punish her while she can't parry.
  +
*There are actually some champions which have a chance of outdueling Fiora late game.
  +
**An example is Master Yi which just like Fiora, deals massive amounts of sustained true damage, can itemize for lifesteal, and has nothing notable that can be blocked by Riposte. He is also immune to attack speed slows with his ult activated, so Riposte is arguably useless against him.
  +
**Jax has a chance to outduel Fiora, but it requires wise use of Counter Strike. If she manages to block the stun with Riposte, Fiora will win. Remember that Counter Strike allows Jax to block vitals.

The majority of Fiora's damage is still physical, especially early in the game where she doesn't have a lot of bonus AD to make her true damage very relevant. Another perk is that The Black Cleaver is cheaper than Trinity Force.
  • Ravenous Hydra item Ravenous Hydra is a core item for Fiora. It gives her lifesteal and a lot of bonus AD. But more importantly, it gives her waveclear, which is incredibly important since one of the main weakness of Fiora's kit is lacking natural waveclear. Due to this reason, this item is often rushed, with Tiamat item Tiamat being one of Fiora's most common first buys.
  • Fiora's Lunge Lunge applies on-hit effects, meaning that items such as Tiamat item Tiamat's Cleave, Blade of the Ruined King item Blade of the Ruined King, Sheen item Sheen's Spellblade all proc.
  • While almost never a good buy, Hextech Gunblade item Hextech Gunblade heals off of Duelist's Dance Duelist's Dance's damage.
  • If building AD, any item that offers a mix of attack damage, lifesteal, and cooldown reduction is good for Fiora.
    • A prime example is Death's Dance item Death's Dance. The passive will help Fiora survive the large bursts of damage that she will most likely attract when Riposte Riposte is on cooldown.
    • While Trinity Force item Trinity Force is not commonly built, Fiora can make good use of all of its stats. Spellblade procs will almost always land with Lunge Lunge, the movement speed on hit helps her position to strike Duelist's Dance Vitals, and cooldown reduction is a welcome addition to her long cooldowns. The attack speed also helps her win fights when she might not otherwise be able to safely break Duelist's Dance Vitals.
  • If building tank Fiora, Titanic Hydra item Titanic Hydra is a good alternative to Ravenous Hydra. However, keep in mind that Titanic Hydra item Titanic Hydra does NOT grant Attack Damage based on health, and so Duelist's Dance Duelist's Dance will gain no benefit.
Countering
  • Remember that Fiora is one of the few champions who can be built into multiple item paths. Itemize accordingly in order to counter her.
    • Her most common build path, however, is to stack items with lifesteal and cooldown reduction, with some tankyness. (see above for the reasons why)
      • With that in mind, building Grievous Wounds items can help you heavily against Fiora. As an ADC, it is recommended to buy Mortal Reminder item Mortal Reminder if you are facing Fiora late game. Morellonomicon item Morellonomicon is also a core item on many mages, that offer Grievous Wounds. There is also Thornmail for tanks (see below for more information).
  • Thornmail item Thornmail is once again a decent item to buy against Fiora. Bramble Vest item Bramble Vest cripples Fiora early because she is sustain reliant and auto reliant, so the Grievous Wounds passive actually allows you to have a chance against her. In the long run, however, Fiora is able to overcome this item, with massive amounts of lifesteal and armor shred. Thornmail will not help you against Fiora late game in a 1x1 situation, but it can help reducing her sustain during teamfights if she is forced to hit you.
  • Building some armor in the early game is actually useful against Fiora. She will not have enough true damage to shred you, as she is item reliant. In the long run, Fiora is able to shred through any enemy regardless of how tanky they are, but building tanky is still necessary for survivability purposes.
  • Bladework Bladework's second strike is always considered a critical strike. Buying a Randuin's Omen item Randuin's Omen can cripple Bladework Bladework's second strike, though it is usually an inefficient use of gold for this purpose.
  • Fiora OriginalSquare Fiora is always considered as a powerful late game hypercarry. Shutting her down early can cripple her apart since she has a weak early game.
  • It is difficult to itemize properly against Fiora if she builds Attack Damage, because of Duelist's Dance Duelist's Dance's damage. Try to stop her from snowballing out of control, or position intelligently so she cannot attack your Duelist's Dance Vitals.
  • Avoid using your high damage abilities like Death Mark Death Mark or hard CC abilities like Counter Strike Counter Strike when Riposte Riposte is available. It blocks EVERYTHING; for example, if Fiora OriginalSquare Fiora parries Chum the Waters Chum the Waters, the fish will drop to the ground and will not attach itself to her if she walks over it. Likewise, Death Mark Death Mark will not be applied, and even abilities like Blade's End Blade's End will consume the stacks, but deal no damage.
  • Riposte Riposte has a long cooldown, especially at early ranks - after she uses it, punish her while she can't parry.
  • There are actually some champions which have a chance of outdueling Fiora late game.
    • An example is Master Yi OriginalSquare Master Yi which just like Fiora, deals massive amounts of sustained true damage, can itemize for lifesteal, and has nothing notable that can be blocked by Riposte. He is also immune to attack speed slows with his ult activated, so Riposte is arguably useless against him.
    • Jax OriginalSquare Jax has a chance to outduel Fiora, but it requires wise use of Counter Strike Counter Strike. If she manages to block the stun with Riposte, Fiora will win. Remember that Counter Strike allows Jax to block vitals.
