Anivia is voiced by Kari Wahlgren in Legends of Runeterra.^[2]
Anivia is one of only three champions to have had her voiceover changed twice, the others being Ashe and Katarina.
- The first one was the calmest.
- The second one was the most aggressive.
- Her voiceover was later reverted to the first, then got updated to the current voiceover.
Blackfrost Anivia's Brazillian voice actor is Lúcia Helena, who also voices Kalista.
Anivia evokes the Latin adjective nivea < Proto-Italic *sniɣʷeyā "snowy, snow-white", all from PIE root-verb *sneygʷʰ-.^[3]
- In-universe, Anivia is likely a pre-Freljordian theonym like her other brethren.
During development she was called Cryophoenix which combines Greek Cryo κρύος "cold" and Phoenix, a fiery solar bird who cyclically resurrects from its own ashes, inspiring her Rebirth, from Afroasiatic mythology: cf. the Egyptian heron Bennu^[4] who likewise cyclically renews himself.
Flash Frost's missile was a once a Nexus crystal.^[5]
