Lore[]
- Fiend Quellers
One of the leaders of the four elite houses, Camille relies on ironfisted methods to run the city's places of worship. To her, Yone's inclination for appeasement would never succeed in purging evil from the city. To ensure enduring peace and stability in the city, she stands ready to cut down any threat that dares encroach, including creatures of the demon realm and even those who wield magic powers without the houses' permission.
An accident plunged Pyke, Yone's first disciple, into the depths of hell a long time ago. However, his spiritual affinity won him the gaze of Yasuo, a savage god of the underworld.
Though brought back to life, madness has claimed Pyke's reason, and he will have vengeance for his suffering. Doing everything in his power to expose the cruel truth behind the power that fiend quellers wield, intense obsession burns in his eyes, threatening to turn the city upside down. Pyke believes that humans themselves are the true evil that needs to be purged from the mortal vessels they possess, and his former mentor, Yone, stands at the top of the list.
As one in the seat of power, Swain has every street and alley in the city under his control. It was the backing of this dignitary of the four elite houses that allowed Yone to find a place for himself in the city after being cast into the mortal realm. Sensing an opportunity, the shrewd Swain made a deal with Yone, entreating him to impart knowledge of supernatural abilities to humans. This alliance safeguards the city against the dangers posed by malevolent spirits and demons... as well as conspiracies possibly hatching in the shadows.
Once a scion of the four elite houses, Varus now wanders the streets as a fiend queller after his family was massacred by demons. Fueled by hatred, he renounced all attachment to worldly things and became Yone's youngest apprentice. Pyke's betrayal is a reminder for Varus to guard against the bewitching whispers of the other realm, but the pain and anger stemming from the loss of his loved ones nevertheless drive him to draw his cursed bow again and again in pursuit of vengeance.
Yone, proprietor of the pawnshop Twist of Fortune, was once one of two demon kings who ruled the other realm, but a deadly showdown with his younger brother has left him stranded in the city as half-human, half-demon. To prevent his berserk brother from upending the two realms, Yone imparted knowledge of supernatural abilities to the humans, empowering them to exorcise demons and protect their world. With the fate of a city and two realms resting on his blades, Yone must now regain his lost demonic powers to preserve this delicate harmony.
