The Elixir of Fortitude is a consumable potion in League of Legends. It is often used towards the end of the game to help with a final push or to help defend. It gives a short, 4 minute bonus to a champion's health and physical attack damage. It is best for a melee champion, or any champion that relies heavily on physical damage. The health bonus can be just what you need to turn the tide of battle in your favor. Early in the game, it can be used somewhat like Heal, instantly granting you extra life that could save you from death. Also, junglers sometimes take the Elixir because of its helpful temporary bonuses.

Also known as "red elixir", it used to be much more popular before the v1.0.0.107 patch that nerfed the most popular and effective ranged carry core build that consisted of Infinity Edge, Last Whisper and double elixir (Fortitude and Elixir of Agility Elixir of Agility).

Elixers are often bought towards the end of long games, when builds are all completed and the extra gold continues to accumulate, as elixers are automatically applied when purchased if there are already 6 items in the inventory.
