Brackern[]

Surrounded around the Shuriman Continent are several clans of Brackern, including clans in the Shuriman desert.

Dormun[]

The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.

Eka'Sul[]

Desert goats that travel in herds.

Mwatis[]

Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.

Kmiros[]

Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for Rammus Rammus.

Outerbeasts[]

Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.

  • Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger. Rek'Sai Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.

Ralsiji[]

Large and aggressive minotaur-like creatures. They are humpbacked quadrupeds with long limbs and thick horns.

Shuriman Camel[]

A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.

Sandswimmers[]

Shurima Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.

Skallashi[]

The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.

Elise Elise is a deadly predator who dwells in a shuttered, lightless palace, deep within the oldest city of Noxus. She was once the mistress of a powerful noble house, until the bite of a vile spider-god transformed her into something utterly inhuman, yet still beautiful—an arachnoid creature, drawing unsuspecting prey into her web. Elise now feeds upon the naive and the faithless, and there are few who can resist her seductions.

Background[]

Early years[]

Elise was born centuries in Noxus into the Kythera house, one of the oldest and most powerful families in the empire. She was well known for her extraordinary beauty, as many nobles tried to ask for her hand in marriage. However, despite her beauty, Elise was a proud and ambitious woman, as she only wanted to expand her influence and wealth further. This being the reason why she wanted to marry Bertholdt Zaavan whose house was more powerful than hers, this marriage was not convenient for them because it would be the Kythera family that would have more privileges at their expense, but Elise managed to seduce Bertholdt and in the end he agreed to marry her.

Unbeknownst to her, the political marriage had been in the works for years. Dark forces operating from the shadows pulled the strings of the empire, and Berholdt was merely a pawn in a much more elaborate game. Yet no one expected Elise to end up completely subduing him. Although her husband was the public face of his house, it was clear who really held the power. As time went on, his resentment grew.

One evening, during dinner, amid his usual cold atmosphere, he revealed to his wife that he had poisoned the wine and demanded that she step away from the social sphere to allow him to take back the reins of power. Knowing that he would carry the antidote with him, Elise began to play the role of the repentant wife: she cried and begged her husband to forgive her. When she seemed to have convinced him, she quickly grabbed a knife from the table and pierced his heart with it.

Even though the antidote worked, Elise was bedridden for weeks. Then... the pale woman appeared.

Appearance[]

Elise is described as a woman of striking beauty. Her human appearance is charming and seductive, designed to attract her victims. She has sharp, defined facial features, dark eyes, and short, dark, slicked-back hair with a distinctive scarlet red sweep along the middle. She usually wears a black cape with scarlet red details, cinched with a cross-like brooch that resembles fangs. Beneath this facade however, she is a monstrous spider-hybrid.

In her spider form, Elise turns to crawl and develops multiple limbs that emerge from her back, maintaining her size but discarding all human proportions. Her skin transforms into a dark, furry, bloated mass with vivid patterns as predator coloration. Although she can fully transform into a spider, she also has an intermediate state in which she maintains a human face, torso and posture, but she assumes quasi-arachnoid characteristics, such as her extremities terminating in pointed edges and additional segmented limbs.

Personality[]

Elise is manipulative, cunning and cruel; from a young age, she discovered how to use her beauty to influence others. After her transformation, her abilities to seduce and deceive improved drastically. She often uses charm and the promise of power or ecstasy to lure her victims into her deadly web, enjoying the control she exercises over them. Although she is completely devoted to Vilemaw Vilemaw, Elise is pragmatic, and she uses her alliance with the Black Rose to ensure a constant supply of victims. Despite her monstrous coldness, her human desires—a need for power and eternal youth—motivate her actions.

Abilities[]

  • Magically Altered Physiology: After Elise was bitten by Vilemaw, she was turned into a terrible spider hybrid with several strange, mystical powers.
    • Immortality: By taking the Vilemaw's poison from time to time, Elise managed to live for centuries, without any major aging.
    • Spider Transformation: Elise can shift from a human form to that of a monstrous giant spider form. She also can stay in a in between form.
      • Multiple Limbs: Elise has multiple extra limbs coming from her back. Those spider legs can be used as an extra arms or weapon against foes.
      • Wall Crawling: With her spider limbs, Elise can crawl on vertical surfaces.
      • Poison Secretion: Elise can naturally create a powerful neurotoxin that can be used to kill her foes in battle.
      • Web Making: Elise can produce webs to ensnare her foes.
      • Parthenogenesis: Elise has several spiderlings that she can produce and will, without the help of other being.

Relations[]

Black Rose[]

Elise is a member of the Black Rose that resides in Noxus for the most part.

LeBlanc LeBlanc tasks her with bearing magical artifacts for her from Shadow Isles and gives her acolytes to offer to Vilemaw.

Vilemaw[]

She worships Vilemaw and its poison provides her with eternal youth in exchange for the acolytes as preys.

Spiderlings[]

She has multiple spiderlings living with her in the ruin of House Zaavan's halls.

Strand By Silken Strand

By Graham McNeill

The weeks spent on the ocean had made Markus feel dizzy and weak, so he was glad to be back on dry land. The path leading from the basalt shore had a slick, oily quality, making it treacherous underfoot. The crooked trees to either side were wretched, blackened husks that wept yellowed sap from where it looked like some panicked animal had clawed them ragged. Soft light shimmered between the trees, dancing like the corpse candles that flickered over marshland and drew unwary souls to their doom. The branches were hung with what looked like canopies of ragged muslin, and it took Markus a moment to realize they were swathes of cobwebs.
