Brackern[]

Surrounded around the Shuriman Continent are several clans of Brackern, including clans in the Shuriman desert.

Dormun[]

The Dormun are gigantic, slow-moving creatures protected with large chitinous plates covering their body. In the harsh conditions of Shurima they have evolved to survive the perpetual drought by utilizing an unknown sense to locate hidden reservoirs of water. Incidentally, certain nomadic tribes have built themselves a permanent home upon the backs of these beasts where they clean the creature and hunt any airborne pests who venture near.

Eka'Sul[]

Desert goats that travel in herds.

Mwatis[]

Mwatis are goatlike creatures with large plated casques on their heads. Mwati wool and plate are prised for felting and insulation.

Kmiros[]

Gigantic scarabs that roam in swarms, looking for unfortunate travelers to feed on. They seem to be common prey for Rammus Rammus.

Outerbeasts[]

Beside the Xer'Sai, other creatures from the Void, referred to as 'outerbeasts', can be found in the desert.

  • Xer'Sai: Creatures from the Void that plague the southern deserts. They are the size of big dogs on average, but can be smaller or much bigger. Rek'Sai Rek'Sai, as the queen, is by far the largest and most dangerous of her species. Xer'sai burst from their small burrows and ravage anything nearby, to the detriment of desert caravans. Once dead, the Xer'sai decompose at an abnormally rapid rate and become inedible.

Ralsiji[]

Large and aggressive minotaur-like creatures. They are humpbacked quadrupeds with long limbs and thick horns.

Shuriman Camel[]

A breed of camels native to the deserts of Shurima and are used by caravans as well as common folk as primary mode of transportation. Despite being well-suited for lengthy travels in the desert landscape, they are still prey to a many predator such as the Xer'Sai.

Sandswimmers[]

Shurima Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers

Sandswimmers are massive quadrupedal creatures that traverse the Shuriman desert in cyclical patterns. They got their name due to their preferred method of travel. Their narrow bodies and webbed feet are perfectly design for swimming under the sand. They feed on bugs and other small creatures most desert beasts ignore. Scavengers will often memorize the predictable paths these creatures take, and jump onto their backs to ride as far as they wish.

Skallashi[]

The Skallashi are large quadrupedal herbivores. These hardy beasts of burden are common across Shurima, ideally suited to the harsh desert environment. Their key body feature is their long legs. Notoriously bad-tempered, they are nevertheless treated with great reverence. Their brown hides are often painted with sacred symbols of protection, and their horns hung with totems and charms. While these creatures are mostly used for travel and carrying heavy loads, on some larger skallashi people are able to built miniature rooms for more comfortable travel. To own one is often considered a sign of considerable prosperity.

Utterly mad, tragically homicidal, and horrifyingly purple, Dr Dr. Mundo is what keeps many of Zaun Crest icon Zaun’s citizens indoors on particularly dark nights. Now a self-proclaimed physician, he was once a patient of Zaun’s most infamous asylum. After “curing” the entire staff, Dr. Mundo established his practice in the empty wards that once treated him and began mimicking the highly unethical procedures he had so often experienced himself. With a full cabinet of medicines and zero medical knowledge, he now makes himself more monstrous with each injection and terrifies the hapless “patients” who wander near his office.

Background[]

Early life[]

The man now known as Dr. Mundo was born and raised in Zaun Crest icon Zaun. He grew up to be a large man, able to physically intimidate others. He had a friendly and good-natured personality and would often use nicknames for people. As an adult, despite his friendly conduct, he worked as henchman and enforcer for a chem-baron.

Torture at Osweld Asylum[]

After making a mistake that infuriated his boss, the chem-baron decided to make an example out of the enforcer. He was committed to Osweld Asylum, where he was experimented on. Suffering through the cruel treatments, the enforcer's body grew muscular than he already was, yet his brain deteriorated. Eventually, he lost all memories of his previous life, including his name and that of his boss. Instead he constructed a new reality from his surroundings, mistaking his restraining jacket for the coat of a doctor, and took on the name and profession Dr Dr. Mundo.

Over time, Mundo 'treated' everyone in the asylum, killing and dismembering them. When the chem-baron returned to collect his enforcer, Mundo treated him as well, killing him on an operating table. After the man tragically died during the surgery, Dr. Mundo stepped outside for the first time and recognized many potential patients that need to be 'cured'.

Do No Harm[]

One day, Dr. Mundo fought Ekko Ekko on the Sump Level, who he thought of as a carrier of a virus. After hours, he managed to harm the boy, but the damage was magically reversed magically reversed and the patient managed to escape. After the fight, Mundo returned to his hospital.

Appearance[]

Dr. Mundo is a towering man enhanced by Chemtech medicine and implants. His already large body gained even more muscles during his torture at the asylum, which also led to his purple skin and blue tongue. He currently wears a ragged restraining jacket, even though it is much too small for his figure.

Personality[]

Mundo believes himself to be a doctor and everyone else to be his patients. This is a psychotic delusion/escapist reality, and he often injures, dismembers, or even kills his 'patients' without realizing it. Despite all this, Mundo seems to care for his 'patients,' becoming sad when his 'cures' don't work. He works tirelessly to cure these people of these supposed 'diseases' and is a generally caring but crazy person.

Abilities[]

  • Chemically Altered Physiology: At some point in the past, Dr. Mundo was forcefully injected with large quantities of purple liquids(presumably shimmer), which drastically altered his mind and entire body.
    • Accelerated Healing: Dr. Mundo's fast muscle growth can quickly heal his wounds, including gunshots.[1]
    • Physical Strength: Dr. Mundo was naturally a strong person working as an enforcer and bodyguard for a chem-baron. The treatments he was exposed to amplified his muscle growth, making him stronger than regular humans.
  • Limited Cognitive Capabilities: Dr. Mundo was traumatized while subjected to torture, and now lives in an escapist reality. He believes himself to be a doctor that has to 'treat' other citizens, but in reality is hurting, dismembering or even killing them. He is known to randomly assault people on the street.[2]

Relations[]

Ekko Ekko[]

Dr. Mundo fought against Ekko in the Sump level. However, he only perceived him as 'patient' in need of 'treatment', and it is unclear Mundo even remembers him.

  • Mundo believes he is a doctor because he thinks his straight jacket is a lab coat.

Character blurb
May 25, 2021 Re-written to accompany his champion update.
May 2016 Rewritten to go along with his new biography.
"Mundo will let you know upfront: this probably hurt very much." - Dr Dr. Mundo

Utterly insane, unrepentantly homicidal, and horrifyingly purple, Dr Dr. Mundo is what keeps many of Zaun's citizens indoors on particularly dark nights. This monosyllabic monstrosity seems to want nothing more than pain - both the giving of it, and the receiving of it. Wielding his massive meat cleaver meat cleaver as if it were weightless, Mundo is infamous for capturing and torturing dozens of Zaun's citizens for his nefarious 'operations', which seem to have no overall point or goal. He is brutal. He is unpredictable. He goes where he pleases. He is also not, technically, a doctor.

Unknown Added.
"Beware the Madman of Zaun. In his eyes, you are already dead."

It is said that the man now known as Dr Dr. Mundo was born without any sort of conscience. Instead, he had an unquenchable desire to inflict pain through experimentation. By the time he was five, most of the pets in the Zaun Zaun neighborhood where Mundo grew up had gone missing. By his teenage years, his parents were nowhere to be found. By the time he had legally acquired his license to practice medicine, he had been acquitted of thirty-eight separate charges of murder by the Zaun authorities; the lack of evidence made prosecution impossible.
