In the dark beginning, a spark of creation rippled through the universe. What sound it made, what light it shone, we will never know, for there were not yet then words to describe, nor yet ears or eyes to perceive it.

The Creation of the Universe is the first and most extensive event in the timeline, encompassing everything from the very beginning of time itself to the formation of Runeterra Crest icon.png Runeterra.

History

In the very beginning, before the existence of time, space or reality there was only the Void Crest icon.png Void, a vast emptiness that acted as the home to entities known as the Watchers. These eldritch beings of the Void lacked true sentience or thought until the sudden spark of light that brought the creation of the main League of Legends universe, linkRuneterra Prime (Universe) Runeterra Prime (along with the creation of the Multiverse).

With the universe's "breath of creation" came the very first Celestials, powerful and enigmatic entities hailing from the Celestial Realm. These beings came in countless forms, as some we're formless and in need of a vessel such as Bard Bard or the Aspects. Others however took the form of Celestial Dragons such as Aurelion Sol Aurelion Sol and LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator.png6 Inviolus Vox. As Aurelion Sol Aurelion Sol populated the empty space around him by forging the stars, small beings called Meeps we're formed from the "residual inspiration and thought" that went into forming the very first stars. The exact mechanism that gives these Meeps life, however, is known exclusively to Bard Bard.

While forging the stars, Aurelion Sol would also connect some of his creations to form constellations, being capable of granting some of them life and essentially making Celestials in the form of living constellations. These living constellations would include LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator.png7 The Destroyer, LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator.png2 The Messenger, and Aurelion Sol's "magnum opus", LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator.png9 The Great Beyond. While a number of these constellations were developed for the purposes of destruction, others seem to be unintended consequences of Aurelion Sol's unrestricted creative freedom, such as LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator.png3 The Trickster.

In response to the surge of life, light and magic in the neighboring universe, the Watchers developed sentience, growing disgusted and annoyed with existence itself. As the embodiment of nothingness itself, the Void Crest icon.png Void became inextricably bound to Runeterra Prime as its greatest threat.

Eventually, at some unknown point in time, the planet Runeterra Crest icon.png Runeterra was formed by an unknown group of beings using World Runes, orbiting one of Aurelion Sol's stars to serve as it's sun as well as being accompanied by both a physical and 'spiritual' moon.
