Strategy

• Solo melee champions sometimes take Cloth Armor to improve lane sustainability.

• It's usually thought that starting with Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potions when laning is a waste of gold on potions if you don't plan to upgrade the Cloth Armor. However, if you start with Doran's Shield, it is sold for almost the same gold as Cloth Armor. Ultimately, it depends on whether you prefer 100 more health, 5 more health regeneration, and 8 less damage from champion basic attacks (in the case of Doran's Shield), or 15 more armor and 4 more Health Potions (in the case of Cloth Armor).
