Camavoran Continent or Eastern Continent is a continent in the eastern hemisphere of Runeterra, separated from the rest of the world by the vast expanse of the Eternal Ocean. The most predominant nation on this continent was the ancient kingdom of Camavor before its fall during the Ruination of Helia. After the Ruination its history became largely unknown to the rest of the world.

History[]

Ancient Times[]

Long before mortals lived on the eastern continent, dragons dwelt on the continent. However, mortals eventually settled on the continent, they brought their conflicts with them. The strife was only quelled when the first king of Camavor, Camor, who humbled himself before the dragon matriarch, bending the knee and pleading with her to lend her great strength to his armies, and all his dreams of empire. So it was that the dragon who would eventually be known as Grandmother Viper and the Camavoran ruler swore the oath of Vol Visperi-Desinvein, binding their lineages for generations to come.

The dragons remained fiercely loyal to the throne of house Vol Kalah Heigaari and to those high houses that passed the trials and performed the sacred rites of the oath. In exchange, the dragons were kept satiated with livestock and showered with offerings. The gold, jewels, and precious artifacts they accumulated over the years garnered them a great respect… and those brazen enough to cross the dragons would pause at the thought of their own fortunes being reduced to molten slag and windblown ash.

Millennia pass as settlers from this continent would migrate westward to the shores of the Shuriman Continent and Valoran, bringing all their ancient knowledge and wisdom with them. In time, their descendants would come to rule some of the greatest civilizations Runeterra has ever known.

Even more millennia passed as the king of the Camavor Crest icon Kingdom of Camavor at the time, traded his youngest son, Vladimir Vladimir with an unknown Darkin in exchange for the safety of the kingdom. Within a year, this oath would be broken. Instructed by his master, Vladimir Vladimir destroyed the kingdom of his father and presented his father's head to him. Despite the destruction of Camavor and the death of its king, the royal line of Vol Kalah Heigaari persisted.

Fall of Camavor[]

Viego Viego, the last king of Camavor, embarked on a desperate quest to resurrect his beloved queen, Isolde Isolde. As Viego reached the Well of Ages, he lay his wife's corpse in the life-giving waters. However, the resurrection went horribly wrong as Isolde returned as a Wraith. In a fit of despair, she drove Viego's enchanted blade through his heart, setting off a chain reaction that unleashed the destructive force known as the Ruination.

After the fall of its monarchy, the Camavor Crest icon Kingdom of Camavor fell into ruin, grappling with the loss of its most prominent leaders and a significant portion of its military strength. With dwindling funds and persistent internal strife, coupled with external pressures, the once proud realm descended into a state of ruin, exacerbated by the Rune Wars that followed in the wake of the Ruination of Helia. Due to the loss of most of written history during these wars, the existence of the eastern continent was forgotten by the rest of Runeterra.

In the absence of Camavor, its main rival, the neighboring nation of Kathkan thrived for the following millennia, unburdened by the threat of its aggressive neighbor.

Rediscovery[]

Centuries later, Viego, now a wraith himself, returned to Camavor with the help of a Yordle ally Yordle ally, seeking to resurrect Isolde once more. He carried with him fragments of her soul, divided across multiple fetters. However, Isolde, upon being revived, rejected Viego after witnessing the atrocities he had committed in his quest to bring her back. Prompted by the queen, Akshan Akshan, a Sentinels of Light Crest icon Sentinel of Light, ended Isolde's suffering again, and she was laid to rest once more. Enraged, Viego attacked the Sentinels of Light but was ultimately weakened without Isolde. Gwen Gwen used her Hallowed Mist to bind Viego, imprisoning him in the land he once ruled.

With the Ruined King now sealed on Camavoran soil, the Hallowed Mist that binds Viego to Camavor is slowly fading. When he eventually breaks free, his ruination will begin to drive demons into a frenzy-like state, potentially awakening the rest of the Ten Kings, which would spell doom for Kathkan. In an attempt to find answers about Viego's imprisoners, Nilah Nilah crosses the Eternal Ocean in search of the Sentinels of Light Crest icon Sentinels of Light, becoming the first Kathkani to step foot on Valoran in over seven hundred years.
