Brush is the tall grassy terrain on a map that provides a champion (or minion/monster) a form of stealth. Upon entering the brush, the unit immediately turns invisible to enemies outside of that particular patch of brush. The unit will remain invisible until it has either left the brush or was scouted by an ability, item or an enemy unit.

Brush is a common terrain feature found on the Fields of Justice that provides any unit that enters it a form of one-way stealth.
*This stealth does not make your champion invisible, but hides you from units outside of that brush. You will not be revealed by stealth detections that are not placed in the brush.

Upon entering any brush, the unit is immediately rendered invisible to enemies outside of that particular patch of brush, a state that is represented when the unit's model takes on a partially transparent quality. The unit will remain invisible as such until it has either left the brush, is revealed by a sight-granting ability, item or an enemy unit, or engages in most kinds of attacks.
Gameplay
Visually, this effect manifests when your champion's avatar takes on a partially transparent quality. Opposing units in different patches of brush will not be able to see each other even if they are within normal sight range.

  +
Brush does not provide true stealth, as the unit does not require any form of true sight in order to be visible, but the widespread distribution of brush around the various maps nonetheless mean that using brush correctly is a nigh-universal skill to learn in high levels of League of Legends play.
Brush can be used in several ways to create a tactical advantage on the battlefield. First, and perhaps most apparently, one can utilize the brush to set an ambush for an enemy champion, emerging once they have passed by to cut off their escape. Brush can also be used, while fleeing, to break the line of sight and force pursuing champions to guess which direction you have gone. It can also be used to dodge passing minion waves, to hide your champion while he channels recall, or to force a ranged champion too close to melee range to continue their attack.

Strategy
Wards are subject to the same limitations surrounding brush as other units. A ward placed inside a patch of brush can reveal the area inside the brush, and the surrounding of it. A Vision Ward placed outside of a brush will not be able to see enemies inside. Because of this, it is often preferable to place wards within a brush.

  +
The unique properties of brush and its ability to manipulate the sight of an opponent offers several key tactical advantages. Most notably, any kind of unit-targeted ability cannot be used on an opponent hidden within brush whatsoever, meaning deliberately entering one to break lines of sight can force enemy champions who rely predominantly on this casting type (such as Fiddlesticks) to waste resources or time on reacquiring sight of their target. It is also a key factor in almost any kind of ambush, or ganks, allowing an aggressor to remain hidden until their target is close by or out of safety.

  +
All forms of basic attacks and the majority of non-skillshot offensive abilities will reveal the caster and a small area around them for a short period of time, if they are standing in brush. It is therefore generally impossible to remain permanently stealthed while attacking, although the element of surprise granted by brush can still be significant.
*Brush in a lane can be used to find out if the enemy has sight into a particular patch of brush. If you are in the brush, not attacking, and minions begin to attack you, then they have sight into that brush.

If an attack skill that is not a skillshot is used while in the brush, the champion using that skill will be revealed for a short time. Your champion will also be revealed when you auto-attack from within a brush. If an ally attacks from a brush, you will also be seen.

Brush is subject to line of sight. For example, on Summoner's Rift, opposing units on both ends of the brush at blue buff will not be able to see each other due to a wall in between the edges of that brush.

Ways to reveal areas in the Brush
* Ivern is currently the only champion who can create brush, being able to do so via Brushmaker. He can creates a line of brushes, blocking the sight of the enemy. This technique can be used during taking monster objectives or in ARAM maps.
There are several ways to reveal an area in brush:

  +
* A technique known as juking is commonly employed using brush to invoke unpredictable changes in direction when fleeing, and the same unpredictability can also allow for disguising a vulnerable channel time, such as Absolute Zero or Decimating Smash.
* An allied unit moves into the brush.  This also includes pets such as:

** Summon: Tibbers pet.

** Mirror Image clone.

** Children of the Grave pet.

** Hallucinate clone.

** Omen of Death clone.

* A Sight Ward placed in the brush will reveal within and around it for 3 minutes.

* A Vision Ward placed in the brush will reveal the same area as a normal sight ward, but will also reveal stealthed units.

Checking Brush
  +
While the most direct way of scouting a suspicious brush involves the user personally entering to inspect it (more commonly known as facechecking) almost all abilities, spells and items that provide sight can be used to reveal the interior of a brush. Most prominently, wards are a very common answer to tactical attempts to utilize brush. Wards are subject to the same limitations surrounding brush as other units; they will reveal the area inside the brush, as well as the area surrounding it, and a Control Ward placed outside of a brush will not be able to see enemies inside. Because of these reasons, it is extremely common to place a ward within a brush and effectively negate its use by the opposing team for as long as the ward lasts.

  +
*If the champion is capable of summoning pets or possesses one that is controllable, they can also be ordered into the brush to scout.
Some champions possess abilites that directly or more often indirectly let you see into an area that is usually subject to the Fog of War or units within them, such as Brush. Most every AoE ability could reveal an opponent in it's range.

  +
* Aside from gaining sight, brushes can also be scouted indirectly using certain abilities.

Brush minimap Brush is a common terrain feature found on the Fields of Justice that provides any unit that enters it a form of one-way stealth.

 • Ivern Ivern is currently the only champion who can create brush, being able to do so via Brushmaker Brushmaker. He can creates a line of brushes, blocking the sight of the enemy. This technique can be used during taking monster objectives or in ARAM maps.
