I am dissatisfied with Shen's current 1st and 2nd abilities. If Shen were to be reworked, considering he is a Tank, and I primarily play Shen as a Support, I propose Riot incorporates Shen's lore into the game. For instance, allow Shen to decide his equilibrium, enabling him to choose how he engages in combat in both the material and spiritual realms. In his material state, he could deal more Physical damage and be tougher based on his armor or health points, while in his spiritual state, he could deal more magic damage and have increased Magic Resist.
Drawing inspiration from the lore, where Shen uses both realms to aid and protect his comrades, it would make sense to let him use both realms in the game at his discretion. For example, besides using his ult for channeling to aid allies, Riot should let Shen venture into the spiritual realm as part of Shen’s ult similar to Mordekaiser's Ult. According to the lore, Shen's power should be capable of hijacking or bypassing Morde's magic to aid an ally trapped in the spirit realm.
Another possibility could be Shen using his ult (to bring back) or his 3rd skill (to pull back) the spirit of a targeted ally back to its owner’s body or much safer place, similar to how Illaoi's pulls a spirit out from target’s body. Additionally, Shen should be able to interrupt Yone's "Soul Unbound" skill, cutting its connection that allows Yone to return to his body. If for example, Yone cannot return to his body, he would be trapped and could only move based on the limited range of his skill and current area of its casted skill range.
My desired change for Shen's passive is to allow him to choose whether to fight in his material or spiritual state, with a fixed cooldown or an interval of a few minutes. While switching, Shen should be immovable, similar to when he channels himself during his ultimate. His 1st skill should create an illusion of his current opposite state to aid him in combat or protect allies, limited to one clone within Shen's attack range or double of the range, with some HP or a time limit. Also, the illusion could switch place with Mordekaiser’s or Illaoi's targeted champion. The 2nd skill should grant temporary increased enhancement like armors to Shen and his allies if Shen is in material state, and increased magic resistance if Shen is in spiritual state.
The 3rd skill retains as I like it the way it was, and the ultimate skill aside from that Shen is channeling to his ally to provide a barrier. Should allow Shen to cancel, or bring back the ally's spirit back to its body as it can switch places between the Shen’s illusion and targeted ally, since it was trapped and targeted by Mordekaiser's ult. Also it would be great if it can prevent all of the abilities that are related to spirit realm like how it can prevent Illaoi to pull the spirit of Shen’s allies for a while, and or prevents Yone to leave his body.
In essence, my proposed change of Shen’s ability was based on Kayn's ability to choose a form, Jayce's ability to choose which weapon is beneficial and should be used whether close range or long range, and Camille's passive for armor and magic resistance.
