Blue Essence, or BE, is one of the two currency used in League of Legends, the other being Riot Points.

Blue Essence can be obtained through Leveling Capsules, that are obtained when leveling up.

Blue Essences are used to:
- Purchase champions.
- Purchase Hextech Crafting mystery champion shards.
- Purchase additional rune pages.
- Purchase chromas whenever they're on sale.

A Leveling Capsule rewards the player with a champion shard, that can be disenchanted to obtain Blue Essence. Disenchanting a champion shard can grant 720, 900, 960, or 1,240, based on the champion's price in Blue Essence. ^[1]
