Blademasters are champions that use sharp bladed weapons such as swords and crossblades to rip their opponents to shreds. A majority of champions with this trait are Melee role.png Melee range, requiring them to be in the frontline. The synergy gives all Blademasters a large amount of single target damage. The additional attacks made due to the synergy are not instant, they are just basic attacks, the buff actually gives 200% attack speed for the next few attacks.

Strategy

  • Proper placement of Blademasters is key to winning with this trait. Blademasters like to stand still, and if all are clumped together, they are highly susceptible to crowd control and area of effect special abilities.
  • It's possible to chain the synergy effect. If you activate the synergy during an attack effected by the synergy, it resets the synergy. It is possible for some champions to keep the 200% attack speed for the entire round.

Items

  • Statikk Shiv Statikk Shiv is a great item for Blademasters, the attack speed in the synergy makes them one of the best users of this item in general.
  • Items such as Hush Hush and Sword Breaker Sword Breaker have a chance to activate multiple times when the synergy activates.
  • Because of the large amount of Melee role.png Melee range champions that this trait has, Rapid Firecannon Rapid Firecannon can prevent a champion from standing around unable to path to an enemy.
  • Bloodthirster Bloodthirster can create a massive amount of sustain when the synergy activates in combat.
  • Runaan's Hurricane Runaan's Hurricane can easily multiply the damage output of a Blademaster. Runaan's Hurricane gets increased effectiveness with higher attack range, pairing Rapid Firecannon Rapid Firecannon with this item is wise.
  • Hand of Justice Hand of Justice will always provide a useful effect to Blademasters.
  • Infinity Edge Infinity Edge is a strong item for Blademasters, as they get multiple tries per attack to land a critical.
  • In order to get the 6 synergy, at least two Blade of the Ruined King Blade of the Ruined King are needed.

Counters

  • Items built from Chain Vest Chain Vest due to their reliance on auto-attacks. Thornmail Thornmail is exceptional when defending against a Blademaster's onslaught since they will also be hit by the reflected damage many times.
  • Because Blademasters rely on auto-attacking fast for their trait, effects that nullify auto-attacks or attack speed in some way are especially effective against them.
    • Dodge icon.png Dodge allows a percentage (or all) of auto-attacks to be ignored;
    • Sword Breaker Sword Breaker's Disarm icon.png Disarm effect stops champions from auto-attacking all together, nullifying the trait.
    • Frozen Heart Frozen Heart's attack speed slow means that the trait activates less as champions affected by it will attack less, especially effective as most Blademasters have to get close to the unit they're attacking.
  • Crowd control and area of effect special abilities are good against Blademasters, because blademasters do not move around a lot unless it's to chase a target.
  • Because most Blademasters are Melee role.png Melee, champions that move when they use their ability such as Kindred Kindred are a good counter to them as they can stay out of their range.
