Physiology

This one of a kind creature has a shape and behavior of a river serpent. What differentiates him from a regular serpent is his numerous arachnid appendages, as well as two additional mouths protruding from his head area. The creature has 12 eyes (some of them injured due to past battles), a mouth with sharp teeth that can gape open wide for larger prey, and horned like crests on the top of the head. The colors of the creatures exoskeleton go from dark purple to light teal. This creature was believed to be deceased for numerous centuries, but due to recent Void rifts he has reemerged again.

Culture

"Legends speak of a Scourge that lurks at the furthest reaches of the Celestial Realm. Here, it awaits the time-at-the-end-of-time, when it will wield the power of the stars to shatter the foundations of the world."

This creature is well known to the cultures of Runeterra, so much so that it has its own constellation in the celestial realms. Legends say that the Baron itself ascended by sheer force of will, while others say that a celestial dragon created the constellation to one day target against Runeterra itself out of revenge.

Trivia

  • The name is homage to DotA where the most powerful monster is a golem called Roshan. Nashor is an anagram, basically Roshan spelled backwards except for the "sh" sound.
  • Baron Nashor was revealed to be a Voidborn during Rek'Sai's Rek'Sai's Q&A (LAN server).[1]
  • The Baron Nashor is revealed to be male according to one of Evelynn's Evelynn's quotes. She states this upon attacking him:
    •
"Finally! A man who can satisfy me."
  • Baron Nashor appears in several alternate universes, most notably linkArcade (Universe) Arcade (Blitzcrank's Poro Roundup) and linkStar Guardian (Universe) Star Guardian (New Stars).
    • In the linkRuneterra Legacy (Universe) Runeterra Legacy universe (and probably the linkMarauders Versus Wardens (Universe) Marauders Versus Wardens universe) the original Baron Nashor was killed and replaced with the current one. The remains of he old one can be seen on the Summoner's Rift game map.
      • The original Baron Nashor was an incomplete facsimile of the true Baron Nashor that replaced it.[2]
  • An game item called Nashor's Tooth Nashor's Tooth is named after this creature.
