Ashlesh, Lord of Joy is one of the Ten Kings. It feeds on primal joy such as delirium or obsession. After being defeated by the gods, Ashlesh was imprisoned in the underworld where it was guarded by an order of heroes. It is currently under the control of Nilah, who tamed the demon's power to use for good at the expense of her old life.

According to Kathkani mythology, there were ten ferocious demon siblings who today are known as the Ten, the first demonic entities. 
Fiddlesticks is the first of the Ten, existing since the first screams of creation.
Hungering for primal joy, Ashlesh, one of the Ten, attempted to consume the realm of the Gods—but the Gods struck the monster down, trapping it deep below the earth in an endless, shimmering lake within the seventh layer of the underworld. There it would be guarded by a mythical order of heroes.

Nilah made a deal with the Lord of Joy. In exchange for her former life, soul after death and every emotion except Joy; she now wields the power of Ashlesh, slaying legendary beasts in hope of being remembered as a hero.
