* Be careful when and where you use your shroud. Getting caught in the open will be a quick end for Akali.
* Find the balance between storing {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali|Essence of Shadows}}, and using {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali}} before having max charges.

+
;Playing against {{ci|Akali}}
  +
*Akali stays obscured for half a second while re-entering her shroud. Use that opportunity to poke her with skillshots.
* Akali can still be hit by area of effect spells while invisible inside {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali}}.

  +
*Always be on your guard. When Akali exits shroud to strike you, be ready to trade with her.
* Akali greatly benefits from both {{ii|The Dark Seal}} and {{ii|Mejai's Soulstealer}}. Watch which items she gets and prioritize her accordingly.

  +
*Try to deny Akali the stun of Perfect Execution. If she can't stick onto you, she will have a hard time killing you.
* Return to base if your Health is low and Akali has multiple charges of her {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali|ultimate}}.

*Akali's {{ai|ShadowDance|Akali|ultimate}} allows her to strike through and deal damage to enemies. Her Crescent Slash deals crazy damage when built right. When at the nexus and the team crowds, be watchful of Akali, she can {{ai|ShadowDance|Akali|ultimate}} and Crescent Slash. Depending on health and proximity to the Crescent Slash, the entire team can be wiped out.

* Akali's passive is used on her auto attacks. The first attack will give Akali back a percentage of her health. The second strike deals increased damage. If she's low health and has her Twilight Shroud, be careful because she will auto attack to gain health and, if she has it, summoner heal and turn the tables on your engagement.

==Tricks==

*
;Ability Usage

* Her bread and butter combo involves proccing {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} twice in quick succession. Akali's {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} mark lasts 6 seconds, and its cooldown at 0% reduction is lower than 6 seconds at all ranks except the first, when it is 6 seconds exactly. This combo comes into effect once you get your ultimate at level 6, and consists of {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} - [wait for {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} cooldown] - {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali|R}} - AA - {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} - AA. You can then add any {{ai|Crescent Slash|Akali|Es}} or additional {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali|Rs}} as you want, as well as more {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Qs}} if the fight lasts long enough for the cooldown; however this combo will proc (if off cooldown) {{mi6|Thunderlord's Decree}} and her passive damage, meaning big damage to the enemy. This will likely put your target below 150 health if not kill them, which can easily be finished by auto attacking, {{si|Ignite|Igniting}}, using her {{ai|Crescent Slash|Akali|E}}, {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali|ulting}} the target again, or any combination thereof.

* Akali's {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|W}} is a very versatile ability. After the rework, there are 4 important things to note: First, {{ii|Control Ward|Control Wards}} do not reveal you in your {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|shroud}}, nor will anything other than a turret or an ability/effect that specifically says it reveals stealth. You will have a shimmer similar to {{ii|Sweeping Lens}} / {{ii|Oracle Alteration}} (except not red) when taking damage while invisible. [NOTE: There is currently a bug on the stealth where many hard crowd control abilities will actually reveal her and make her targetable] Second, the movement speed from shroud is now on at all times while you're in the shroud. Third, it is no longer placeable. This means that some previous advanced tactics, such as placing the center of the shroud in a wall to make the shroud invisible to enemies, are no longer possible. You can still do the aforementioned tactic using brush, however. Fourth, her shroud now has a small blink on cast. This is useful for gap closing, dodging abilities, and juking. But a very unknown mechanic on it, because it was never listed although it is confirmed intended, is that you can actually use her blink to negate displacements, such as knockups and knockbacks. This is shown [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaN1oqmNOi8&list=PLizAAbGLvgaL6iCeZbBk5xM2n6K90-Y72&index=9 here.] Look at how {{cai|Dragon's Rage|Lee Sin}} is negated. In order to negate the displacements, you must cast her W at about the same time as the displacement; it just has to finish the cast time after the displace begins. Akali will be moved to the center of her shroud (not to where you targeted to blink to).

* You can fake blinking over a wall with Akali's {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|W}} by running up to a wall and then targeting somewhere not over the wall. Enemies will likely expect you to have gone over the wall and will use their own abilities or flash to cross the wall, allowing you to get away safely.

* Akali's {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|W}} will allow you to {{si|Teleport}} and be invisible, but it will reveal you for a moment after casting it. Keep in mind that this will put your {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|W}} on cooldown, meaning you won't have access to it when you arrive, which is especially important to be aware of if you are joining a teamfight. Make sure to weigh the pros and cons of being able to immediately {{si|Teleport}} at the cost of your {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|shroud}} against the value of having it for the teamfight at the cost of having to back away from danger first.

* Akali's {{ai|Crescent Slash|Akali|E}} is a point-blank area of effect ability with good damage and a relatively low cooldown. It is especially useful for wave-clearing: {{ai|Crescent Slash|Akali|E's}} cooldown is reduced 60% if it kills a unit, so make sure to utilise this when trying to clear a large wave.

;Mastery Usage

* {{mi6|Thunderlord's Decree}} is very important to being able to burst down targets early, as well as for trading in lane. It can be proc'd fairly easy using a {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} - autoattack combo, as the damage from {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} landing, the damage from the autoattack, and the damage from {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} proccing are all considered separate. This also works using the damage from the second auto attack of her passive.

* Once you have it, use your mastery emote after every kill. This is a very important part of Akali's kit, as it lets your opponent know how grave of a mistake they've made by underestimating you. This allows you to establish your dominance as the alpha-laner. Follow in Best Akali FL's footsteps.

  +
;{{ai|Assassin's Mark|Akali|size=32}} [Innate]
* Use {{ii|Hextech Gunblade}} as part of your burst combo.

  +
*The ring of Assassin's Mark is essential for all of Akali's combos. Learn to move back and forward quickly to keep that kama swinging!
* Use {{ii|Zhonya's Hourglass}} to survive large burst, sustained damage, or to survive long enough for ability cooldowns required to kill a target or escape, especially when you are very likely to die before those cooldowns come up.

* {{ii|Lich Bane}} can be very useful for boosting your burst as casting your {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} will activate {{nie|Spellblade}} on your next auto attack, which means you will proc your Q and hit the damage from {{ii|Lich Bane}} at the same time; {{ii|Lich Bane}} is guaranteed to add Tons of Damage to your combo. Keep in mind {{ii|Lich Bane}} comes with mana, which means some wasted gold efficiency on Akali.

* {{ii|Abyssal Scepter|Abyssal Scepter}} is a great pickup if you are against a lot of magic damage. It's passive also boosts your own magic damage by 10%, providing a nice boost to your burst.

* {{ii|Rylai's Crystal Scepter}} allows you to stick to targets easily, as well as giving a large amount of Ability Power and Health. The passive slow activates as single target on both parts of your {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}}, your {{ai|Shadow Dance|Akali|ultimate}}, and the second autoattack of your {{ai|Twin Disciplines|Akali|passive}}.

  +
;{{ai|Five Point Strike|Akali|size=32}} [Q]
;Countering

  +
*Try to hit your target with the edge with Five Point Strike. Doing so will slow them, allowing you to continue harassing them easier.
* Like most assassins, Akali can be countered through extensive hard crowd control. Examples: {{cai|Cyclone|Wukong}}, {{cai|Event Horizon|Veigar}}, {{cai|Pyromania|Annie}} (passive) or {{ci|Nautilus}}.

  +
*Five Point Strike has a sweet spot that instantly gets your passive ready.
* Akali is a champion that snowballs well into the game. She will target the ADC and Support primarily, although anyone squishy is fair game- always ward the river to let you know when she is coming- then hard Crowd Control her. She can easily 1v2 due to the level advantage and pure damage output/sustain that comes with a {{ii|Hextech Gunblade}}. When you see her coming, try to hug your tower effectively force her back to her lane, causing her to miss CS.

  +
*Fire out Five Point Strike as you burst your target with the second dash of Perfect Execution.
* Try to gank her early while her {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|shroud}} is down. Do not go into the {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|shroud}} - Akali can burst you down from half health to 0 with a {{ai|Mark of the Assassin|Akali|Q}} - {{ai|Crescent Slash|Akali|E}} - {{si|Ignite}} combo, even in the early game. Using champions like {{ci|Lee Sin}} will make this easier with his vision debuff from {{ai|Sonic Wave|Lee Sin}} or {{ai|Tempest|Lee Sin}}.

* Stealth detection abilities like {{cai|Sonic Wave|Lee Sin}}, {{cai|Thrill of the Hunt|Rengar}}, or {{cai|Destiny|Twisted Fate}} can reveal Akali while she is inside her {{ai|Twilight Shroud|Akali|shroud}}, making her vulnerable.

* Akali is considered a squishy champion. Fighter Champions, particularly Juggernauts (like {{ci|Mordekaiser}}, {{ci|Garen}}, or {{ci|Darius}}) and Divers like {{ci|Diana}} and {{ci|Irelia}} can counter Akali thanks to their high damage and extensive toughness. Champions with high burst and reliable hard crowd control such as {{ci|Annie}} are also excellent counters, as they can kill Akali before she is able to take any action.

*Renember that Twilight Shroud lets you move quicker across the battlefield. Use it to speed up your combo.
Akali's passive is used on her auto attacks. The first attack will give Akali back a percentage of her health. The second strike deals increased damage.

  +
*Don't forget that you stay obscured for a second as you enter your shroud. Beware, enemies can use that opportunity to hit their skillshots!
  +
*Using Twilight Shroud in turret sight range will still render you obscured. Be careful!
  +
  +
;{{ai|Shuriken Flip|Akali|size=32}} [E]
  +
*Shuriken Flip is your main tool to stick onto an enemy. Use it right after the initial stun of Perfect Execution to mark your target. Doing so will make it harder for them to get away.
  +
*Shuriken Flip can be used to use two passive strikes. If the enemy is trying to all-in you, E them, smack them with the passive, E them again, then smack them again!
  +
*Renember that Shuriken Flip will follow the target WHEREVER they go. You could end up in a bad situation, (eg. under turret, or in a 1v5) use it wisely when dashing to your target!
  +

;{{ai|Perfect Execution|Akali|size=32}} [R]

*Perfect Execution isn't just for killing your enemies. If you are caught in a bad spot, renember that you can use it to get away.

*Landing the first stun of Perfect Execution is essential for your killing combo.

*You can extend the range of both dashes using Flash. Surprise your enemies by suddenly using Ult + Flash onto them!

"Some things must remain buried."

Strategy is highly subjective and may become outdated without any notice. Because of this, the League of Legends Wiki has decided to retire strategy pages and would recommend using other platforms (such as YouTube) to find guides. For more information visit this thread.
