ARAM (or All Random All Mid) is a PvP game mode in League of Legends, played exclusively on the Howling Abyss. It was released on June 29, 2012. Through standard matchmaking, players are not given the ability to choose their champion ( All Random) and fight on the Howling Abyss' single lane (All Mid).
General
- The game objective is to destroy enemy Nexus in the other side.
Features
- There is only a single lane.
- Your champion starts at level 3 - affording them increased base stats and 3 skill points.
- is the exception, as he starts with 1 point in and has 2 points to spend.
- There is a Base Gate for the first 15 seconds, that blocks champions from leaving the base.
- There are only two turrets protecting the inhibitor.
- Each team's shop 'closes' when the player moves too far away (just beyond the nexus turrets), preventing them from purchasing items indefinitely. The shop will only reopen if the player dies.
- The fountain does not restore health nor mana.

- There are 4 unique health relics for this map positioned in the lane. Walking on a health relic restores health, then triggers a -like effect after 2.5 seconds, that restores health and mana to champions of either team in the area. The amount restored increases with missing health and mana respectively.
- Minions
- Minions take 75% damage from AoE damage.
- Minion waves spawn every 25 − 13 (based on minutes) seconds.
- Minions have 325 − 425 (based on minutes) movement speed.
- Siege minions spawn every three waves, starting with the third wave.
- Siege minions and super minions have Passive Effect - Blackout: When spotted by enemy traps, gain Blackout over a 1100-unit radius. Expose and reveal stealthed traps. The effects linger for 4 seconds after walking away.
- After 18 minutes, champions deal 0% − 25% (based on minutes) bonus damage to structures.
- Surrender Time: 12 minutes.
- Unanimous Surrender Time: 8 minutes.
- Damage from champions further than 1000 units away is reduced by 15% (this excludes ultimates and damage over time abilities). This effect has a small visual indicator similar to when it triggers.
- The amount of gold awarded for champion kills is 180.
- Assists share 90 among all assisting allies.
- This is reduced to 50% − 100% (based on Game Time).
- First blood increases both kill and assist bounties by 50%.
- Kill bounties are increased based on the number of consecutive kills of the slain champion.
- Kill and assist bounties are reduced based on the number of consecutive deaths of the slain champion.
Aura
All champions on the Howling Abyss gain the following bonuses:
- +70 summoner spell haste
- Restores 0.15% of maximum mana per second.
- Passively gains 5 experience per second.
- Reduces all outgoing heals by 50%. The healing reduction does not affect self-heals.
- Omnivamp and life steal against minions are reduced by 40%.
- While you are alive, nearby enemy minions killed by any ally other than you grant 6.
- Melee champions gain 15 bonus magic resistance and their basic attacks deal 20% bonus damage against siege and super minions.
- Melee champions now deal 20% bonus damage against structures, if they adaptively have more ability power. This buff is replaced by the generic time-based ARAM buff's bonus damage to structures once the latter exceeds 20%.

In a matchmade game, the player can reroll their randomly assigned champion by consuming a reroll credit.
The player can have up to 2 reroll credits, and a credit is rewarded for earning 150 ARAM points. ARAM points are earned every time the player completes a matchmade ARAM game. The number of points granted is based on the number of available champions, the ARAM free roster plays a constant factor.

History
- ARAM was originally played as a custom game on the Summoner's Rift map. Many players enjoyed the gameplay change, focusing only on 5v5 fights with no lane phase or jungling.
- A small community of players crafted a set of standard rules for this type of game. ARAM quickly became the most popular type of custom game and the community vocally asked Riot to formally support the game mode. After one of the Thunderdome events, the Proving Grounds map was revamped from being solely for tutorials, to a playable one lane map.
- Later, the Howling Abyss was released as a new ARAM map, replacing the Proving Grounds, along with the Freljord update and ARAM was made an official queue. This was the first and only time a custom game mode created by players became an official game type of League of Legends.
