それは、見るも無残な光景だった。大地を埋める、傷ついた兵士たちと力尽きた死者たち。そのうちの一人、ローブをまとった男の身体の周囲に、今にも消えそうな魔力の力が渦巻いていた。男の命の炎は、まさに消えんとしていた。アーリが引き寄せられるようにその男に近づいていったそのとき、彼女の中で何かが弾け、男を求めて放たれた。なにをどうやっているのか、アーリは自分でも理解できなかった。ただ、目に見えない魔力の糸を通じて、男の精気がアーリの体内に取り込まれていく。意識が朦朧とするほどの強烈な快感がアーリを包み、ようやくわれに返ったとき、彼女は自分の身に起きた変化に狂喜した。滑らかな白い毛皮は消え、代わりにそこにあったのは、すらりとしなやかな身体。それは紛れもなく、彼女の周りに倒れる人間と同じものだった。
こうして人間の身体を手に入れたアーリだったが、彼女は自分がまだ完全な人間になれたわけではないことも理解していた。狐は狡猾な生き物である。彼女は人間社会の習慣に適応し、その完璧な美貌を武器に、無防備な男たちを誘惑していった。彼女は魔力で虜にした男たちから精気を吸い取り、彼らの欲望をエサに、真の人間になるという悲願の成就へ向けて着々と近づいていったのである。ところが、人の命を奪えば奪うほどに、アーリの中には、これまで味わったことの無い感情が生まれてきた。狐であった時には何の躊躇いも感じなかった所業に対し、良心の呵責を感じるようになったのである。日に日に大きくなる自責の念に耐えきれなくなった彼女が救いを求め、辿りついた先はルーンテラ有数の魔術師が集う抗争統制省であった。そこに集う当代最高峰の魔導師達によって、アーリはリーグ・オブ・レジェンドのチャンピオンとなる報酬として、罪無き人の命を奪うのではなく、心身ともに夢であった人間となる機会を与えられたのである。
