On-action effects is a catch-all term for additional effects of a champion's actions as caused by an item, ability, or passive of a champion. Actions in this case include champion basic attacks; non-basic attack damage from pets; basic attacks from pets; taking damage from a player, minion, monster, or pet; and champion abilities. Actions will always trigger as many on-action effects as are applicable and from this fact a split into four rough categories, each with a principle example, can be made with On-strike effects including on-hit effects, on-spell effects including spell effects, ability modifiers including critical strikes, and triggers including on-damage-taken effects (defensive triggers).
